ICC 2010 save, playing as NZ, we're up to the present day.
Hosting SL, win the toss and bat on a seaming deck. Keep in mind here that this version of NZ is a batting side; we're rocking Tastle at 11 and even Martin Guptill averages 45+ in Tests. We get rolled for 120. ****.
We come out to bowl, our try-hard-but-not-very-good #engineroom CdG-led attack pick up a couple of wickets. I'd picked a specialist bowler for once and he sucked, so most of the wickets went to a Mark Craig-but-good regen, eventually knocking them over for 300 odd. **** x2.
Out walks Jeet Raval. He's in awful form, averaging mid-20s in FC cricket leading up to the Test, but form is temporary etc etc and a Test average of 62 after 44 games gives me faith in him. Guptill double-fails, and here's KW. We're about 200 behind, the pitch is doing a bit, the SL attack is handy.
They put on about 450. Raval is out for 186 and Williamson goes on to make 318. Chuck in a 75 from Sean Eathorne and we're basically in Watling-McCullum-Neesham comeback territory here. NZ end up with 650, set SL 400 in 4 sessions, knock them over for a 240 run win with a session to spare, the regen offie taking another bag.
