Indian Domestic Season 2010-11

How? Their opening bowlers, one of whom is god tbh.
Which one? Both are pretty darn good for an Indian domestic side.

Also credit their batting 'imports' - Kanitkar from Maharashtra and Chopra from Delhi (who scored a triple), remarkable transformation as others seemed to have stepped up too
(Chahar, Chopra, Kanitkar were additions this year).

Man that story about Chahar and Greg Chappell is so awesome

Can't believe Rajashtan just won the Ranji. Such an awesome run.
They did't win. They just gained a first-innings lead which handed them the trophy.

Full credit to the Peacocks, they had a good game, but hardly looked like winning. The trophy should have been shared (and should be in later seasons) so that teams play for wins, instead of defending leads.

Now Duleep Trophy's (single) quarter final has started and Neo Cricket has chosen not to cover it, despite advertising for the event. Maybe one of the semis will be covered. The game is largely boring, with East Zone securing the lead over Central Zone, and the game being played out into a draw.

Pankaj Singh, since his last Plate game, hasn't been as fluent in taking wickets, but still took four once again. RP Singh continues to struggle in the four-dayers. Murali Kartik continues his all-round form, but wickets have been few. Manoj Tiwari continues to score centuries once he's over 50, and notched one up again. Mohammed Kaif and T20 prospect Naman Ojha have done their bit for Central, but they failed to pinch the lead. It's all about leads, on a flat deck. Again.

Manoj Tiwary i see has got a century in this match and so did Kaif.

Tiwary has benefitted from one ODI cap more than anyone else .
Remember him being cleaned up by lee in Brisbane in the CB series in his first few balls in 2008.

But as a result he has went into the IPL Auction twice and has gotten a lot lot richer.

Was supposed to be "India's Kevin Pietersen" at one stage but has been off the selector's radar since.

What happened? Central Zone bowlers bundled out East Zone for a paltry 96! Three wickets each for Pankaj, Deepak and Umesh Yadav. Surely they're celebrating their IPL contracts with this. Dinda, a lot less, ending up on the losing side despite taking four wickets. Eventually, Central peacefully went on to secure a nine-wicket win.

South Zone will host Central Zone. North Zone and West Zone will clash in the other semi. There are no stars in this series, making it rather inconsequential. Let's look at two issues here.

Ashok Dinda, Umesh Yadav, Pankaj Singh and Deepak Chahar have scalped more than a few wickets each. What does it hold in store for the IPL? Delhi's utterly incomprehensible approach in the IPL auction has left them stuck with Dinda and Umesh, while Rajasthan's decision to support home-grown talent has had them stick with Pankaj and Deepak. Both teams have some strong overseas batting picks, but as a result, to get the most out of that, may depend a lot on their domestic bowlers.

There was this phase in the domestic scene, when you had overseas players involved, with Rajasthan actually getting two (Vikram Solanki and Kabir Ali from England), and while they initially did well, the absence of both hurt them as they got relegated. The Duleep Trophy was also revised, with two groups, featuring the five zones and an overseas team- highlight teams were England A and Sri Lanka A, but in between, Zimbabwe and Bangladesh sent their reserve teams, resulting in some very one-sided games. Eventually, a panel of experts decided that there will be no foreign players in the Indian domestic circuit. Do you think this was a step backward? With Indian players often missing domestic games and Indian domestic performers with no experience against someone of international standard, there's a huge trick missed here.

South Zone versus north on right now.

And Mukund just basically ran out Badrinath.

Is batting well himself though.

Umesh Yadav bowling 140 km/hr + consistently here.:-O

Has reached 147.8 too.

Also Central seem to have dropped Chahar for RP singh today.

Chahar didn't play in the match against East Zone either. They're letting him get some rest, or playing the more experienced players ahead of him for some reason. Makes no sense that RP or Umesh start over him though.

Mukund looks solid, and Pandey is on 65 off 64 too. Very good batting thus far from the South Zone duo.

Double hundred for Manish Pandey! Superb knock, and it puts South Zone in a fairly good position.

Edit: Hah, Cricinfo's headline reads "Pandey double-century powers Karnataka to strong total". South Zone, not Karnataka, tsk.

Super knock by Pandey today.

Truly Sehwagesque batting.

203 not out of 191 balls out of a score of 416.

Hope he really kicks on from here. Is really supremely talented.

Also in the other match Mandeep singh scored a century for the north who are at 315/5.

He is said to be a very good batting talent as well.

Umesh Yadav has been really quick this match as well ,consistently bowling around 140 KM/HR and even going to 148.

Hope he too can mantain it and add a bit of variation at that pace, which he currently lacks.

Keep us updated on the speed of the bowlers on show, if it is no problem and you are watching the action. I'm definitely reading with intent that we do have a chap with some considerable pace, but who is very raw, atm.

How did he go? Is he finally finding some form?
Was ordinary early on.

But kept going and going and plugging away.

He picked up wickets with plans and bad shots than any great deliveries.

Like kept bowling really wide to Mukund after his hundred and he went for one in the end and hit it straight to point.

Also had Pandey dropped at 120 odd ,when Pankaj singh dropped a skier.

Vinay Kumar bowling pretty well here.

Has easily been the best bowler in this match so far.

Bowls 125 km/hr and around but is really accurate and gets the ball move just the right amount.

Yadav on average was around 140 i think .
Varied from low 135's to 148 km/hr.

Pankaj singh was 125 to 130.

Rp was the same and averaged around 125.

Vinay Kumar has been around 125 to 130 too but has been the best bowler this match so far.

Mithun has been around 130 more than 125.
