Pujara was extremely lucky. The umpire was as blind as a bat when he nicked behind, and he survived a few other close calls;Unlucky to have to face Pujara right after he hit platinum form.
It definitely happened in the second innings. It happened in the first innings too, I'm told.Didn't the nicking behind happen in the first innings, and he got dismissed soon after that anyway?
Given his recent form, he'd probably be a liability in this situation as well.Is Rahane still in contention for that middle order spot? I don't rate his ODI record at all, but if India were 12/2 on a swinging pitch facing someone like Boult or Rabada, I'd have him ahead of Jadhav/Rayudu/Shankar/Pandey etc. But he'd be a complete liability in pretty much every other situation.
Top order is the least of India's problems in ODIs.IND needs an opener in Sehwag/ Gilchrist/ Jayasuriya mould . Rohit/ Dhawan waste entire PP overs by their slow batting . IND will never score 350 + if these guys open unless Rohit goes big which has very low probability. Shaw should open against OZ in ODI series.
Shaw fits that mould.IND needs an opener in Sehwag/ Gilchrist/ Jayasuriya mould . Rohit/ Dhawan waste entire PP overs by their slow batting . IND will never score 350 + if these guys open unless Rohit goes big which has very low probability. Shaw should open against OZ in ODI series.
