Eh I used to think like this but I just don't buy it anymore, especially not for bowlers. If he can't get through a drubbing without having taking a bag against Bangladesh at home first then he probably won't be able to get through a drubbing regardless.
Its not that I think it's bad for a young bowler to play in a drubbing, it's just that there is a big step up from bowling in Ranji and India A games to bowling at Test level. There is an element of finding your feet to it. How long that takes varies bowler to bowler of course, but Id feel more comfortable if Kuldeep got the chance to settle into Test cricket in lower profile, relatively easier games rather than being thrown into the deep end.

KL Rahul is such a natural looking batsman. Like, he just seems to be so good at finding ways to get bat on ball. Not too fussed about technique, just very street smart and exceptionally talented

Ah! In the four day game, the India A team, after winning the toss and electing to bat, are getting blown away by the West Indies A team.

Hopefully, this Ashwin will be in the playing eleven for the first test, and would get smashed by every one (including Moeen Ali, whom England select in a tit for tat gesture), and then we wouldn't have to hear about him for the rest of the series. One test match is a small price to pay for that, I say.

Yikes

I want to watch more of Vihari, feel like he's got the goods

Bit surprised at the Ankit Rajpoot selection. He didn't even have a good Ranji season.

I am a major fan of Kohli's batting style but he looks like a dog in front of KL. Would say Rahul is THE most aesthetically pleasing batsman right now.

Shaw's batting on 101 off 74 balls. We might have stumbled upon a technically correct Sehwag here.

There's also the possibility that the pitch is really, really flat now just like the WI A innings. Kinda reminds me of that 45 all out game at Cape Town IIRC.

They must have specially imported a groundsman from new Zealand to prepare this pitch. Lively for a session or two and then dead, more dead, even more dead, most dead.
All the batsman are now stuffing their boots to their hearts content.

Experience aside, shouldn't we just play Shaw instead of Vijay? He looked clueless in SA, don't trust him too much in England either.

Vijay, for the better part of his innings, also looked clueless against Afghanistan.

Barring massive injuries, Shaw will have to wait for a couple of years and get a reasonable number of FC games under his belt.
They see a lot of promise in him, or else the 19-year old wouldn't have been picked for the A team.

Most countries have many players who are different for the three forms of the game. We need to seriously have proper work load management. Usually, we see players vying for spots in various formats with no clarity regarding their role in the over all scheme of things. Shouldn't we have a clear system whereby we review players annually and decide, okay, the next 12 months, a player like Bhuvi will play tests and maybe few ODIs and not much else.

For the second A team game, Dravid has gone and benched Prithvi Shaw who made 188 in the last game (and also four others from that first XI).
Everyone gets a chance to play.
