The collar chewer will be competing with Axar for his slot , so he won't come into the picture coz he is half as good as him.

No, I was wrong. Axar isn't in the ODI squad. Rooting for Washi/Bishnoi combo in that case.

I'd have gone Hooda for T20Is and Iyer for ODIs, but atleast they're getting picked.

Hope all the newbies get plenty of game time so we can see what they're made of. Especially Gaikwad, Bishnoi, Hooda and Avesh. Prasidh should play as many games as possible as well.

Venky is a good prospect, but doesn't look ready for ODIs yet(at least for the middle order). Not a bad decision I feel.

Hooda's selection is quite strange though. Although he does offer you the 6th bowling option.

Actually I was wrong, if Hooda does perform well, his bowling will be useful in the ODI WC which is in India. That was one of our issues in the last WC, not having that 6th bowling option. Not a bad selection if you look at it that way. Plus he has been around since a very long time and is a pure middle-order batsman.

Definitely, but I am not too worried about him. He'll either be competing with Jadeja or Axar and they are much better than him. Plus they don't make tik-tok videos like him, so Axar and Jaddu are better than him even outside cricket.

Yes but I dont like the 3 #11s approach ever in any form of cricket these days, esp. LO and esp. ODIs. I feel batting depth is more of a thing in ODIs more than any other format. If we had Axar instead of Bishnoi, I would be ok with Shardul missing out for another seamer, but since we don't, I feel we should do this. Zak made the same point on Cricbuzz too and you know those MI coaching city know their LO games well.
