some players who should be tried out in the ongoing series v sri lanka and south africa,
1. vrv singh - has looked impressive with both bat and ball in the challenger trophy and even the duleep trophy. picked with wickets at regular intervals bowling with a lot of pace and bounce. he was good enough in cleaning the tail before chipping in with a useful contribution with the bat. he, took 4 wickets in the 1st inngs and made 93 runs(at near-a-run-a-ball) in the recently concluded duleep trophy match.
2. vvs laxman - he has always been left out unfairly with the only reason being that the team did not do well. he has, played a lot of useful match-winning odi innings and also has improved his fielding and runnings between the wickets. also, all his odi 100s at have come at over 85 strike-rate.
3. gautam gambhir(hes already in the squad) - he must be given a go in the 1st xi. he, has batted well in tests and also for india"a" in one-dayers and looks to have more shots than sehwag and has even outscored sehwag a 1 or 2 times in tests when both of them have batted together. gambhir, looks to be suited to odis as well along with tests.
4. s sree sanath(hes already in the squad) - was the man of the series in the challenger trophy and should have picked more wickets than what he actually got. he has bowled with a lot of pace and aggression. for those who dont remember, when munaf patel, came up suddenly in 2003, there were 2 other players who were also said of being express pacers, with rp singh and s sree santh being the 2 "others". all 3 of munaf, rp singh and sree santh made their fc debuts together for india"a" in the warm-up match v nz where sree santh looked to be the best of the 3 bowlers with munaf not doing anything great except for the 2 wickets in the 1st innings and his amazing dismissal of astle. sree santh, is known to bowl at over 145+ kph.
