India A in South Africa

I heard they have deliberately prepared really flat/slow pitches so as to prevent the indian players from getting too much out of this A tour. So shouldn't read much at all into the performances of the players.

it's winter in SA, groundsman apparently can't produce wickets with anything in them, had the same problem with the Aus A tour and the tri series

Because we have an SA series coming up and the rest of the Indian team isn't doing anything at the moment. They may as well play in this and gain experience, it's not like they're all veterans anyways. Dhawan and Rahane are only 1 test old.

No doubt it helps the side. I was just a little disappointed personally to to click on the card and not see a few blokes I was unfamiliar with.

Anyway it sounds harsh to say Pujara's had it, I think he's been batting pretty well lately.

Why? Kohli is arguably India's best batsman, and he has experience in conditions similar to SA

Pujara is better in Tests, and Kohli hasn't played in South Africa at Test level before.

Australia for four tests against a very decent attack, including a match at Perth - close enough

As for Pujara being better, I think we ought to wait and see

Only the top 3 play for India currently. The rest are all prospects. Even out of those 3, Vijay's place is not secured yet. So I don't think it is too dissimilar a squad for India 'A'.
