Well, if you look at what happened with Championship Manager, they found that unofficial editors were coming up so people could keep the game upto date, but many were unreliable, so Sports Interactive started to include an official editor as a bonus to the fans, a move that was very popular...
Yeah, that's what I'm referencing to. There will always be people who use the editor to cheat, but then you will always have people like KentLad and Donnie who use it for good...

" It is definitely happening as I have been aware of the project for several months and whilst not as involved as I was with 2000, 2001 and 2002 I have been on contact with the developers on a regular basis and have got a recent build of the game. A website with more details is hopefully in development. When I *can* say more I will."

from Dan Thomas, a developer of previous icc games. www.cricketgames.com

The fact that has been developed over "several months" suggests that it will be more than just a data update. Here's hoping anyway! The fact that Dan isn't involved so much might indicate the lack of an online feature and hence the possible inclusion of an editor...

Ok this is the third time I have tried to reply but the server keeps choosing the time I click post to need rebooting so previous reply attempts have been lost :(

My involvement with ICC in the past was just on the network side and any news updates I did on my site. I could have been more involved with ICC 2005 but unfortunately the timing was off as it coincided with a major deadline at Auran (the company I work for) and so I couldn't commit. The development for ICC 2005 was done by the original team in their spare time working around their normal jobs/lives.

The one thing I can definitely say is there will be no editor. As has been repeated infinitum for previous releases there is no internal editor that can be released. Databases are generated from numerous text files that are sourced from various sources (I actually provide the Test/ODI stats) and then combined to make the database. There is no reason to change that procedure.

As I have already said *when* I can say more I will. A press release is being prepared that no doubt will give the list of changes. The problem is I believe Sporting-Gifts.com jumped the gun in adding it to their site which is the reason no other material is available on the web.

Well if there's no editor then I hope that the data is accurate! Also, I assume that as the coding will be similar, Magpie may still work - or could be adjusted at least to work with the new version.

The player details data in previous years was supplied by the ACS but as in any game with this many players the odd mistake may get through.

Magpie will not work. There have been database changes between 2002 and 2005 versions.

Well I guess we'll just have to wait and see and keep fingers crossed then! Every database will have some errors - just hope they are limited.

Okay, some things I will like to see, hopefully it comes true.
- Ethnicity correct to each player
- Colour photos for players
- Better depth for international teams
- Instead of, for example, having only NSW and VIC players playing first class cricket, all teams playing first class cricket.
- More realistic occurances (e.g. career ending injuries, promotion of associate and affiliate members playing more cricket, sponsorship deals)

I know this last one is ironically the most unrealistic but we can only dream.

I don't really care about anything other than better graphics animations more sixes less fours and more realisim...

Big scores like that 646* i made should be almost 1 in a million like real life exept maybe on easy level..

I would love it if you could tell a batsman what area to target ie extra cover when slogging, that would have been a really handy feature when online play was still around.

I understand that the rules in English Domestic Cricket are set to change next year to allowing only 1 overseas player in each team.

Also, I believe that the National League is being scrapped in favour of a regional competition - I very much doubt these changes will be implemented in the game though.

Would be brilliant to see Bangladesh included as a test nation and other ICC affiliated teams like Scotland, Ireland, Holland, Bermuda and Kenya etc to be eligible to play ODIs and to qualify - perhaps via the ICC Trophy for regular World Cups every 4 years.

Will there be a player substitution option in International Cricket Captain 2005?And will it be released on consoles?

Where have you heard that?!

I heard it during commentary on a recent Kent one-day game. They said that it didn't really matter if Kent won the title cos they wouldn't be promoted due to the new regional setup next year. That's all I know and it may be incorrect - I can't actually find any details anywhere to say if this is correct or not!
