The idea that performing and contributing in wins consistently is not "match winning" and of less value than performing once in 5 matches is pretty interesting......smh completely ignored the fact contributing in wins which your team would had lost/drawn is also match winning, done single handedly or not

For Imran’s peak, just one tour at home against WI, which was good but his best against them came in the superlative 1987 series(the best series of the decade).
Botham '81. Kinda droves my consistency point, as does the bowling average flattering one to an extent, but imo, still the best all round series of all time.

Ian Botham, appreciating how good he could be, was simply overrated in his peak.

Imran Khan maintained a batting average of 53 and bowling average of 19 from 1982 to 1991 (9 years!)

On the other hand, Ian Botham only had one year (1982) where he had an average close to 50 (49.77). And also had an inferior bowling average to Imran.

Botham is particularly rated high because of performances causing in draws or wins. But as others have mentioned before, consistency is the main issue with Botham' peak.
So peak Botham<peak Imran.
Imran’s long term peak is obviously. But it is closer when you compare their short term peaks(20-22 matches), there also Imran is better, but he’s about the only one ahead of peak Botham

Mission accomplished. Agree that no one bar Imran and Don (?) is better than Botham over a short term peak (Sobers might be close).

I don't think short term peaks should be given that much importance while comparing players, but it's just me.
