I think this one is pretty obvious because Botham had a Miller long career where he was better and was a front line bowler and bat but the stats need think otherwise. Let’s have a go

Botham is quiet hard to rate. At his best he was the greatest all rounder ever. Achieved all round feats that no one has come even close to achieving in entire history of test cricket. But also finished with very ordinary looking figures at the end with an extended period of mediocrity.

Nope. Imran had a ridiculous peak with averaging 18 with ball and 50 with bat. Sobers also had something similar. Botham and Kapil Dev had this short term ridiculous performances, but nothing of sustained nature as Sobers or Imran.

Obv not sustained that’s why he said peak. Peak Botham’s batting was a lot better than peak Imran. Peak Botham had 6 hundreds in his peak 20-22 matches compared to 1 or 2 for Immy, and a lot of them counterattacking match saving knocks like Madras Jubilee work. Imran peak was a better bowler(and overall by a much larger margin). But Peak Botham and Imran close overall

Peak Imran with the ball alone is a better player than peak Botham. That's how ridiculously good was Imran.

This is the problem of many. People don't understand Imran, Sobers and Hadlee with their primary skill alone was so much impactful than some "all rounders" with the whole package. These fellows make ATG XIs with their primary skill alone.

I rate peak Imran as the best bowler ever. But not sure if I agree with that. Botham averaged 45 during his peak, with hundreds against Hadlee and Lillee, and had 100s where he played a counterattacking knock to save England. Look at the Madras Jubilee performance, saved England with a destructive 100. Contrary to this look at the one hundred Imran made in his 16 match peak, vs Ind, where 4 batsmen tonned up in that innings

Overall I agree. Hadlee as a bowler is over Botham as an AR. Same for Sobers/Imran. But peak Botham, nah

While Peak Imran solely as a bowler is not better than peak Botham, overall he is better as a cricketer.

Peak Botham had the match changing x factor, especially with the bat at peak; but consistency is an issue.

Peak Botham averaged 18ish with the ball and 45 with the bat with 6 100s. Imran 15ish with the ball and 47 with the bat, but only one 100. Plus Botham during his peak had a 100 and a fifer in same the match 4 times, more than any player has had during his entire career. That makes it close
