Hypocrisy of the "Hard but Fair" Bunch

Also, what the **** does "saying Black people should go back to the jungle is racist" have to do with Australians? I'd say that's pretty universally understood at this point.

So a crowd screaming “Symonds is a monkey” isn’t racist?

My dude, even by your appalling standards this is terrible. Watson-level posting.

Lol that Gavasker comment was racist af. He's just lucky it wasn't Americans involved he would be crucified, they are 1000x more sensitive with African-related racism.

Keep going *****. Its always fun to see you dig your own holes. If he were a pokemon, he would be Sandshrew.

Why is everyone so unwilling to look at this through the eyes of the people who made these comments and try to understand what they were thinking when they said this.

It's as though intent doesn't matter anymore, and everyone needs to be read up at all times on everything that western culture finds offensive. If they aren't informed and say something that #CrossesTheLine, they're racist. Doesn't matter what those words mean where they come from, doesn't account for cultural differences.

Just straight up black and white. These are the rules and you must follow them. We've decided these words cannot be said and you said them. No we didn't consult with you when we decided these rules. No we didn't bother to check if you were aware these are the rules. We've just decided that these are the rules and we'll prosecute you on your actions not your intent.

I really don't like this side of you all. This is why I stay out of the politics sub forum now. Absolutely no willingness to offer a generous interpretation of where the others come from.

FTR chanting "So and so is a Monkey!" is literally something we did in school as kids to each other - kids of the same race. No I don't see it as a racist insult, sorry.

It's 2018 *****, you should know by now that these days you can't breathe out loud without offending someone. It doesn't matter if you meant to or not, if someone's feelings get hurt you're a monster and you should apologise.

See, I do see where you're coming from and in other contexts I'd probably agree with you. I think you're getting too hung up on the idea of Gavaskar being a racist, while we're all hearing you defend the comments themselves. The former is defensible, the comments themselves are not.

I do agree that it's difficult to understand where the line is at any given moment and I don't think that leaving the "victim" to draw the lines is a sustainable way to structure society. So I guess I agree with the general sentiment but you're choosing a really really ****** hill to die on here.

So you're trying to tell me that Gavaskar's actual intention when he said that West Indians should go back to the trees where they came from was to say that they were actually Gods?

Ok

My daughters are growing up listening to this right now. Along with Peppa Pig. They are being taught to treat "daddy pig" as an idiot from a young age.

When they debut for Australia, the WI, Pakistani and Indian teams better be ready for the verbals

Way to miss my entire point.

Ok then, India have had six players banned for match fixing in international cricket. Australia have had none banned. Ever.
They have had none banned because CA are masters of doing cover up. once again they have done a cover up yesterday. Only in Australia batsman tamper the ball and bowlers have no idea about it. CA has saved all their bowlers by speaking balant lie in press conference.
