And every team? Plus 2014 is a decade of a quite lengthy history of the game.

Umm no. Ikki was an annoying, biased, contradicting prick. Richard was ok. I can only remember him having one stupid take in our debates (or maybe two).

You dont think it's impacted India's batsmen too? Many of our losses at home have come on dustbowls. And I dont buy that Australia have more variety in pitches than India do? What's that based on?

Depends on what you feel is "fair". If you want an even contest, the pitches probably need to be more prepared to be bowling friendly and reduce the gap in the specific bowling type. Otherwise if you accept that home conditions are a thing then the only thing to watch out for are the extremes of batting and bowling friendly wickets where uneven bounce/lack of movement is the major warning sign. The problem to me with pitch preparations lie more with the general lack of understanding of how it works around the world to fans who don't follow the game there, and also meddling idiot officials who think they're part of the playing XI and want to have a say on the game.

I mean look at which bowling doesn't succeed in certain places during that period. Hard to say that they aren't being prepared in a certain way that by coincidence makes one type of bowling superior.

I would say Australia doesn't seem to have CA/Test captains/team management going around telling curators to make pitches like in some other places.

It's all fair game to press a team advantage.

But there is no excuse to prepare dead pitches designed for no results.

Pakistan did it when Australia toured last time.

And India did it for the 4th test in Aus 2023 when it was clear they wanted a draw and were worried Australia would draw the series.

It is shameful, a disgrace, because you are wasting every cricket lovers time.

Isn't this entire thread about trying to make a so-called "unbeatable" side on a par with two of the great sides from another era?
Having home-tracks and specifying the type of wicket in a vain attempt to make an ATG team out of home-track bullies is futile. It would be like me trying to make a case for the mid 50s England side and nominating the Old Trafford 1956 wicket and saying Jim Laker would have destroyed anyone. Or having Lillee and Thomson on the WACA track of their era.
I don't mind a bit of patriotic flag waving but can we have some sort of balance?

Some were quick, most have / had bounce, but wasn't the SCG always spin friendly?

Dude are you arguing I am being patriotic for India in this thread? It's a thought exercise and I was literally arguing against India as being unbeatable the entire time.

Its slow and a bit dry, sure I wouldn't describe most of the recent Sydney pitches as spin friendly. But implying that India's pitches have been in some way more homogenous during this last decade is really not true imo. Basically all of Australia's pitches in the 2010s behaved the same way, flat , kinda easy paced. The pitches at Eden Gardens, Kanpur, Vishakhapatnam have been very seamer friendly in this era. India have only played a handful of tests there each but still. Don't think theres much basis to say Australia have more variety.
