The Wheel is Forever
I'd probably go Benaud.
Haha exactly. Its a pretty obvious statement. Stating Viv is number 2 is just as debateable (as the Viv master or myth thread suggests, though the arguments have been repetitive), as is saying Hobbs is, as is saying Sobers is.In fact the order for positions 2 to 10 of all time best batsmans has always been debatable.
I think rating Sachin as the next best to Bradman is very, very debatable.
The presence of Border and Barrington in the Top 10 is more debatable, I'd switch Sachin and Viv around.
This is not about batting orders particularly in the lists other than Benaud's and Bradman's which were made by the 'authors' giving the batting orders. The 'Wisden' based lists have batting orders arbitrarily fixed by me. To judge which is a better team you mat switch the batsmen around to your choice and vote.I would definately have Lara above Border.

Can see the merits in both Lara & AB really - very, very different players obviously, but jeez AB is not out of place in this discussion imo.I would definately have Lara above Border.
That’s always been my big problem with Bradman’s side – far too long a tail. The arguments he used during his selection process didn’t make a lot of sense either – he said that the inclusion of Sobers was the key which allowed him to pick the five specialist bowlers he wanted, and that Sobers could compliment that selection. I would have the opposite view – that Sobers’ inclusion means that he could be the fifth bowler behind four specialists, and that you could bring in another batsman so as not to have Don Tallon (career Test average less than 20) batting at no.6 in the all time XI!Excuse me but don tallon at 6? Gee whats bradman thinking?
I think Bradman's team is probably the worst of the lot. In benaud's team I would replace Imran with Marshall and move Sobers and Gilly up one.Excuse me but don tallon at 6? Gee whats bradman thinking?
Anyway I would pick Benaud. Except put khan at number 8 and put sobers at 6 and gilly at 7
I voted for the Dead Legends myself. Marshalls inclusion in that side really swung it for me.
A great side mate, would take some beating. Seven of that team are in my own all time XI, and the other four are in my second team. On a fast pitch that isn't turning I'd be concerned about only playing two specialist quicks but other than that there's not much to question.1. Sunil Gavaskar
2. Jack Hobbs
3. Don Bradman
4. Sachin Tendulkar
5.Vivian Richards
6.Garfield Sobers
7.Adam Gilchrist
8.Richard Hadlee
9.Shane Warne
10.Glenn McGrath
11.Muttiah Muralitharan
