bit of a disaster to the start of my second season with man city, after finishing in 4th and qualifying for the champs league my league form started awfully, i'm expected to challenge for the title but am lingering in mid table with liverpool away as my next game (but theyre eveb lower down than me so i'm hopeful of a good result), champs league has seen me drawn in an extremely tough group (real madrid, bayern munich and besiktas), will be going straight into the uefa cup i expect....annoyingly for the champs league games I win/draw i dont seem to be getting any prize money.....not sure why that should be..... board and fans are happy in general....but with the league position being poor not sure how long that will last....

Just finished my 2nd season with Tamworth after winning the Conference South last year. Started off really well but aquaplaned badly in the second half of the season, finishing 15th. I'm really sick of being semi-professional and having part-time players and coaches, but I'll see who I can bring in over the summer to improve our outlook for next season. I managed to sign Sean Scannell from Palace, which was a bit of a coup - I'm hoping he'll be pulling the strings for us next season.

Interesting news for Sledge in particular - the patch is out. Not tested it yet, and won't do for a while as I am enjying my 01/02 game a lot atm, can be downloaded at the SI site.

Also, a list of changes:

awesome, lets hope its good, i'll download it later as i'm at work at the moment, and give it a decent playtest tonight and over the weekend, if its good then it could be really awesome, and the general feedback on the si forums suggest that it is a major improvement, however I doubt anyone has played it enough to thoroughly test it yet....a bugger is that it sounds like its not completely save game compatible, which is an arse as i was quite enjoying my man city game, but if its fixed a lot of the issues that can compensate for it.....i'll report back in a day or two...

That's interesting, I had heard that it was completely save game compatible bar the database (which is apparently extremely poor so I'll be using the original database anyway). Stuff like the seven subs will take until the season after that which you're on to take effect, apparently.

It does look good, and I hear the match engine is a vast improvement, however I notice that the fix list makes no mention of changes to the board confidence section, which is irritating, however I trust it will be working better by 09.

Must have read it wrong, what I meant about the save game compatibility was the database issues, had to read it quickly...what exactly is meant to be wrong with them, I read something regarding low stats?

But yeah although its dissapointing the confidence section isnt fixed, hopefully now that the match engine works very well, this shouldnt really become that much of a problem if you are at least competent at the game....hopefully (famous last words....)

looking forward to trying it out.

Yes, this low stats thing I don't quite understand as it seems to affect save games too, maybe the game code has been changed to make the general standard lower, and so make the superior teams more superior? Don't know.

What I meant about the database was just that it is extremely poor - Elano is better than Kaka for instance. I'm also reading some bug about Defoe, don't know if it's an actual bug or whether his transfer just hasn't been factored in.

WRT board confidence - that is indeed true if you're managing a top club (which I intend to do when I return to 08), but it does make managing someone like Chelmsford very hard, as I found out last time.

oh dear, that is dire, like you I will be using the old database.

Looks like the bug regarding defoe is something like he has a clause that means pompey pay out £1m to spurs for every match he plays or something stupid, deary me.

One of the most nervous run-ins I've ever had on any CM/FM game tbh, mainly because on 01/02 you can't actually see what's going on. Was much closer than it looks as tbh United bottled it really in the last few games, especially at home to me with about five to go, as I took them apart 4-2. Also beat the Scouse ****s 3-0 in the Cup final to win the double (despite playing reserves up to the final, and even in the final to an extent).

Only disappointment was the CL, took Milan apart in the 2nd group phaze before drawing them in the semis, away first leg. At half-time was 2-0 up, but they got it back to 2-2, and in the home leg, despite dominating, I succumbed to an 85th minute Ronaldinho goal to go out 3-2.

started a new game with fiorentina, gone quite well do far, a lot of high profile players have had to go due to their demands to play for a bigger team, so gourcuff and fernando meira have been signed as replacements. Managed to hang on to Mutu despite high offers from arsenal and milan.

in 3rd place after 6 games, unbeaten in all comps so far...

match engine seems to have been improved by the patch, no real issues with it as of yet, fingers crossed it will stay that way, impressed so far tbh.

HOWEVER, one ridiculous thing that happened in my first match using the new patch, was sebastian frey scoring directly from a goal kick, oh dear oh dear...fortunately this seems to have been a freak incident and wont happen again...

Deary me, I have not heard of incidents such as the above, this had better be a freak.
