I've just got off the phone with Zoe Belisario, one of the marketing managers for the ECB. Turns out a few of the England players are irate about Australia's treatment of migrants in Papua New Guinea. Has this caused them to lash out of Australian cricketers, who they may see as an extension of the Australian state?

Personally, I hope not. I want sport and politics kept separate and I hope we can all go to Adelaide and play a good game of cricket without non-sporting matters affecting the spirit of the game.

peace to all my Asian and Australasian brothers and sisters.

A real headbutt thrown by a test player in a public place would've gone international at the time

Move on, nothing to see here

If this is true and not just another cow pat then England should just take their team home now.

It is weird. It would have inherently hurt Bancroft if it connected (It is rather hard to do a mild headbutt) and there is certainly no way Bancroft would take it amicably. My only explanation is that it was part of some boozy in-joke, and the headbutt barely connected. Either that or it is some weird Australian mid-series media mindgames.

So weird. If it wasn't an actual malicious headbutt why are they sledging him about it? There's so much more material to use.

I realized towards the end that Bancroft didn't know the word forehead.

Or maybe he was joking around but didn't look it.

So basically the moral of the story is a familiar, sh*t journalists will report literally anything. Well done Neroli Meadows.

This is excellent media games by the Aussies. Far better than straightforward lies. It's a real storm in a teacup but it puts the English on the back for entirely for the next test.
