Hayden calls Harbhajan an obnoxious weed

Not sure what you are getting at here... Lara and Richards got the receptions they did not just because they were good cricketers, but more importantly, because they were great ambassadors who play the game in the right spirit. Ok, not so sure abt Viv, but definitely Lara... You won't see Nel get much from the Indian crowds either... There is a way to conduct yourself in public when touring countries and the way Symonds went about things in India made sure he was going to be hated, he was juz stupid throughout.. Firstly, yelling things at how India were celebrating, then getting into arguments with Sachin (whose shoes he couldn't even lick as a cricketer or as a person, IMHO).. When people like Sachin lose their cool dealing with someone like Symonds, you know the problem is with them too, not juz the crowd. It takes two to tango.
Which justifies racial insults towards him...

You just keep digging there mate. I am not saying Symonds is a great Cricketer or even person, but there is no justification for what went on in India. A whole section of the crowd doing monkey chants? Are you for real?

jeez man... there is a difference between understanding why something can happen and justifying what has happened. If you can't see that, then there is no use discussing.

I can understand why the Indian crowds (some, it must be pointed out) lost it with Symonds.

I don't justify the use of terms which can have racist bearings towards Symonds..

I don't like Hayden mocking Ishant's accent (which is juz as bad an act of racism as calling someone a monkey) or him calling a fellow cricketer "an obnoxious weed"...

I don't think racial abuse is the only thing that will hurt people... There are countries which don't have much of a history of racism where personal insults will be considered far worse than terms like "monkey" juz because it MIGHT be considered racial... I think all sorts of abuse should be stopped and they are all at the same level simply because I don't think there is any such thing like "acceptable abuse or insults".....

And for the last time, yes, Curtly can beat up Haydos and obviously I am not the only one who thinks that. You can think whatever you want.. Had enough of this nonsense......

point out the "whole section" part with proof again and we will talk......

Unlike you, I don't go that far. Like, I won't ignore racism just because my countrymen are involved. ;)

And in this case, you could have said Warne and I would have agreed. But Hayden, or Symonds? No way would Curtley flatten them. Dreamin'.
Ignore racism?????? Do u even read my posts?????

Or perhaps you will know better, seeing how you are conveniently ignoring the racist mocking of Ishant's accent by your poster boy.....

Saying another player is scared of fast bowling or being ****y about victory is not abuse. You've lost all perspective. Harbhajan equal to Hayden? Yeah, sure.
Cricketers are not respected based on just whether they abuse others or not. Being stupid or a moron can also affect the way you are rated as a person in the international circuit. And Hayden loses out there due to the instances I mentioned.. Esp. given how often he has to end up with his foot in his mouth, like when Laxman scored 500+ after he said he was scared of fast bowling......

You're losing the plot here. I can understand why the crowd may have been upset...BUT I can't understand why they went and became racist about it.

It's like me poking you in the side and you punching me back in the face. It's not even near equal.

Dude, you try to explain casteism. You deny much of the racial attacks people do from your neck of the woods as a misunderstanding. You're either highly naive or highly defensive about it. Again, saying I am picking sides based on nationality when you have this history is laughable.

And how am I conveniently ignoring it? I was one of the first to comment negatively on it after Dasa did. Go read.

Hayden has few instances (just as many other Cricketers also have examples of being tools) but none of them come close to Harbhajan.

Harbhajan has had more than his share of on-field incidents where he's acted badly to many situations.

But I dont recall that he has gone to the media off field and gratuitously mocked the visiting team and players. Hayden's latest escapade is pathetic even by the low standards associated with Harbhajan.

Yes, I was talking about his incidents bar this last one. Puts him down the list.

So? Australians like Sachin, Lara and everybody else too. What makes your crowd special? Does this mean you won't ever be racist?

Back in the day Joe Louis was heavy-weight champion and got the respect of even white men. But to conclude that America was still not racist to blacks is to be blind.

No, I don't think Symonds did anything to warrant being attacked with racial remarks.

What history of reception? Who gives a crap what the reception was? What, you only like blacks that play Cricket well? Next you're going to tell me Gavaskar wasn't racist in his book.
Fact is if SYmmonds and Australian hadn't made a big hue and cry about racism than it wouldn't have turned into a big incident in India. People called him Monkey because they thought he looked like one but once some ****s realised that it upset the ugly bastard so much they started calling him Monkey. It wasn't meant to be racist but yeah it did become racist in the end i give you that. If Symmonds hadn't acted like a tool in the first place non of it really would've happen.
Just like Symmonds and Australian players have objection to symmonds being called Monkey and get all upset. Indian players get upset being called fukers, bastard etc and all the rest of the colourful lanugage Australian players put on display every match. So why the double standards. They should stop with whole abuse thing in teh first place.
I'm not saying calling Symmonds a Monkey is right but calling someone a ****wit or what not calling it playing hard is just bull****.

Perhaps hayden did it to command more money in IPL auctions being inspired by Symmo who got a million and half for being obnoxious.

Hayden was just being Hayden. Don't need to be a rocket scientist to figure out his motives for it.

Becoz they felt it will hurt him the most????????

Or maybe they actually his actions were like a monkey????

I ve said it is bad and should be punishable, but it is not difficult to see why they did what they did.

jeez man, casteism is just as bad as racism. Point me where I have said otherwise.

But yeah, casteism is slightly different to racism in that the discrimination is based on something else, not the color of the skin..... It is equally bad and pathetic and I have always felt it was the worst thing about our society and I don't see where I have said otherwise. I said the racism of the sort experienced in the West or in Australia doesn't really happen in India and even if they do, they are mostly wildly isolated incidents... We have our own evils, but racism is not one of them. If you wanna get fancy, you can say we practice "soft racism", as the media put it, but thats about it.

And yeah, missed that post. Apologies.
