I think it is so easy to be cut short. I don't watch my bat go over the line. I am more concerned about turning at pace and watching the fielder to see if I can get another run. But then I have only been called short one in my life.
i have done it a few times, but on turf sometimes when u slide your bat it gets caught up just before the line or something without even realising.

We were chasing 188 to win. With one ball to go we were on 9-187 (scores level).

Number 11 on strike, goes back and is out plumb LBW.

Tied at 187 All Out each.

Also played in a one run win. Semi Final other team needs two run to tie and go into grand final, score one and they think they have tied and are in! No, need one more run, but the batsman is run out next ball! One run win!
