What is BJJ?
As hang on said, Brazillion Jiu Jitsu. JL's been doing for years, since he was a teen I believe. Whip quick and more powerful than he looks, have seen him in action and it was scary.

Now I'm sure BJJ is what I understand it to be...

yeah, read about him going the distance with a professional in some training related thing. but would bet on a man who's got 60 pounds on him in a fight......symonds, maybe hayden or even kallis.

I wouldn't.

The only time Kallis would fight back strongly would be if Langer was trying to beat the **** out of his average.

Not if they're untrained, though. Langer would kill them. They'd have to take him to the mat to have a chance.

You must be far better at reading between the lines than I am...can't see anywhere in the bit related to the incident where it says "I was about to piss my pants".
Obviously, I was exaggerating for fun. :) Not to be taken seriously.

was pretty sure that bjj is all about going down to the mat in any case. isn't that what the gracie brothers and their forerunners brought to mixed martial arts? might be wrong. u might be right...a trained little guy versus a lumbering big un could well work out in the little guys favour. but, i used to wrestle and was quick, but would almost always lose to the less skilled, quick, tough big fella. someone like symonds who, apart from being big and powerful, also trained with the rugby (or was it afl?) lot would be a very difficult proposition in a fight, even for someone reasonably trained in bjj, unless the guy is an absolute master.

heh, I love where this thread is going.

Sorry, what I meant is that they'd have to get Langer down straight away before he had a chance to work their defence. Was more of a Thai boxer years ago and a small bloke like him would be relying on weakening a bigger bloke before trying to pin them because he wouldn't want to risk getting them on the ground while they're awake.

On the gound, he'd have his work cut out for him but before that point, he has the capability to knock you out and, if a bigger bloke hasn't trained, they might not be prepared for how strong his hits are. On that basis, I'd back him is what I've been (poorly) trying to say.

I was glad to see Harper speak out like he did. Indian cricket tries to throw its weight around too much nowadays. Umpiring is a very hard job and with the new technologies coming in there is even more scrutiny on them. In any sport I hate seeing officals being given a hard time.

This is all well and good guys, but which of them could throw a kettle over a pub?
