Was looking for this comp and was flabbergasted by the vote tally.

Is this still the opinion of the community? Think Chappell has proven himself a bit more, and WSC just pushes him ahead.

I still think Hammond's early short peak is among the finest in all of cricket history..... This man held the highest Test run scorer record for a whopping 33 years (and is a tally in which he never even let Bradman to surpass him); and by all accounts, he was exceptional on sticky dogs.

Its funny, you’d think his peak would be earlier in his career and include his 28-29 series, but his actual peak was in the late 30’s. Guess he was just spooked a bit by Bradman at first :)

Hammond is the better overall player and one of two guys I think of as the "perfect cricketer"

But the gap in batting isn't this wide. Wally, Sunny, Greg and for me, Punter are are ridiculously close to each other. Don't get the disparity in the vote.

Yeah, I agree with you on the difference between the two - I personally rank Hammond as one of the top 10 batsmen in history and Chappell as one of the top 15, and I daresay a lot of us are similar there.

But as Johan said that's the nature of polls - if 50 people all think Hammond is slightly better than Chappell then that's a 50-0 paddlin', despite everyone agreeing that the gap between them is small.

I do understand, they just tend to be closer.

I have One 10 and the other 12, but when it's this one-sided, I would do my little bit to get it a little closer.
