Norwood's on Fire
Why is my monicker being taken in vain. TBH I was watching cricket and tennis all afternoon, so nothing insulted me.
Gerrard and Lampard finished the tournament in midfield together

In the only game we didn't lose

This will be the third time he has been caught biting another player. They've surely got to throw the book at him, don't they?

Can players get club bans for on-pitch offences for their country?
Of course they can.

In this case Suarez should be looking at a ban of several months. Especially after his recent "I'm so misunderstood, waaah, I'm so ashamed that I'll need to explain this to my kids one day" bollocks that he spouted in the media.

Well if he was moaning about being disliked by the media in England before he will be gutted after this.

Uruguay will probably tell Septic Bladder they will vote for him in the next election to get him off.

I can't recall a single time it's ever happened. Can only think of drugs bans that have overlapped.

Pretty sure there would be lawsuits galore should such things happen. I could be wrong, but.

Not sure it's ever happened but it should definitely be within their power, as the drug bans are testament to. I'd imagine without actually doing any research on it that they have the power to ban a player from playing in any competition organised by a member of FIFA.

EDIT: When Cantona got his 9 month ban from the FA, FIFA then made that ban worldwide. This obviously means Cantona was banned from (say) French domestic games for an offence not committed in a French domestic game, which seems at least slightly analogous.

What jurisdiction would they have for doing this though? Drug bans and things like match-fixing or some sort of off the field issue would almost certainly allow a transferable ban, but for something that occurred on field I wouldn't be so sure.

Yeah Cantona was the only other comparison I could think of, though it wasn't exactly what I'd call 'on-pitch'

maybe it is within their power. I'm certainly not saying they shouldn't ban him; just that I'd expect the ban to be for X Uruguay games.

If the misconduct was serious enough then a player would be banned from all football. It's usually been related to drug offences but Cantona was banned from all football for his indiscretions at Selhurst Park.

Uruguay coach Oscar Tabarez plays down the Luis Suarez incident and gets angry with the media when pressed on the issue.

"I'd like to see the images first before making any comment," he says. "If it happened, then the referee probably didn't see it.

"Despite mistakes (Suarez has made, he is the target of certain media, a certain press. It seems to me there's a certain animosity towards him."
Gee, I wonder why.

I think this is actually a master stroke from the racist cannibal. The English press will no doubt have a(nother) field day with him over this, which he can use to force a move to Real/Barca by telling Liverpool fans that he really honestly wanted to stay and would have if it wasn't for those damn tabloids driving him away.

A poor, misunderstood victim to the last.

He's probably put himself in the shop window nicely actually. Bagged a few goals against England, and will now conveniently be banned from International football for a long time. Very appealing for any club who's got the cash to sign him.
