Haha I don't have an opinion on White, just surprising that he replaced an attacking RB with a CB when most people were expecting Lingard or JWP.

Mings never looks secure to me and apparently Southgate was angry about his random penalty box assault against Austria. @Red_Ink_Squid would know whether he's actually any good though.

I like Mings for Villa but I do have concerns about him as a potential starter for England. He's physical and strong in the air and leads on the pitch and I've seen him put in MotM performances but he can also be error-prone on his off days and he gives the ball away more than he should. I reckon the majority of Villa fans would say that Konsa has been our best centre back this season: less eye catching but more reliable than Mings. I think Mings is generally at his best for Villa when we're in a backs-to-the-wall situation against sides that are out playing us and we're camped in and around our own box, which isn't really the situation England will hope to be in for the group stage games when he's most likely to play. The random off-ball elbow the other night is hardly out of character for him either.

You can see the appeal of him for Southgate as a Maguire-lite, especially with the current trend of favouring left footed players to play LCB. But I definitely think he's a step down in quality from Maguire. I do rate him more than Coady (especially playing in a back 4) and obviously as a Villa and England fan I'd love to see him play well. But I'm also hoping that Maguire gets fit soon.

Particularly as he's replaced him with White, it smacks of weak 'I can't pick between these guys so I'll just pick all of them' management.

I didn't see any of the Romania game, but Henderson is apparently getting a lot of stick from fans, media and his own manager after taking a penalty away from the designated kicker and missing, and joking about it later.

It was one of the more arrogant performances that you'll see.

I thought he might pick the wrong one of his many good attacking options, but putting Trippier at LB is finding a whole new way to **** up. A wrong-footed full back can cripple the whole attack.
