So, no one here tuned in to the game?

Well I guess that was predictable. LOL @ NZ/Kane letting it slip away thanks to NZ not having a decent 5th bowler to fill in. Been a problem for a while now, and this whole business of getting Mitchell/Neesham to suddenly come in to bowl the 19th or 20th over is just hilariously stupid. That apart the batting just sucks at the moment, end of.

Not that disappointed with the result though if it leads to some proper root cause analysis (big if obviously). And, come on, does the cricket follower in anyone want to see the Windies knocked out early in their own tournament? Happy for them and Afghanistan. Hope they go well.

At this point, anyone but Australia. No one wants to see the smug look on their faces if they complete the set of the Mace & all the WCs.

They did a match thread for this one. Agree, it would have felt wrong for Windies to bow out in a home tournament. Probably the last hurrah for a lot of the Black Caps in limited overs WC's. Hopefully they will look to bring in some of the guys who did well in Pakistan on a more regular basis to build for the next one.

This tournament has no sanctity. Scheduling, travelling issues are one part of it. The pre-seeding for super 8 round just makes the whole thing illegitimate.

It’s a dereliction of duty for NZC not to shake up the BC’s set-up. A refresh of coaching staff is urgently needed, a new broom to come in and sweep out the detritus. People without the baggage that comes with a long association with the current team and influential senior players, people with none of the sense of obligation to existing players which may prevent them from making tough calls which should be made.

In the words of Oliver Cromwell to Parliament:
“It is not fit that you should sit here any longer. You have sat here too long for any good you have been doing lately … In the name of God go.”

At the very least, give Wells full control over selection. You can tell the selections that have his fingerprints on them; for the most part, they've done pretty well.

At least now I can enjoy the rest of the tournament as a neutral, not caring about any results from now on and free from the stress of being a long-suffering NZ fan.

Yup. No one is scrutinising it.

If the all blacks lost their opening 2 games of a WC campaign to say, Italy (afg) and Argentina (windies) there'd be riots and calls for the coach and captain to be sacked
I'd say it's more like Ireland losing to Fiji and the Wallabies. I mean to an extent there are calls for Stead to be replaced (on here and on cricket Facebook groups anyway). He's only got a year to go on his contract so will probably continue although they will presumably be looking to shoulder tap candidates for mid-2025. It might also mean Wells has a bit more clout in selection as they need to rebuild now (as they kind of did with the Pakistan tour).

Ireland would be devastated to lose to Fiji and the Wallabies.

This is hilarious for a guy who generally gives zero ****s about getting out slogging early.
They obviously value those hand sanitiser dispensers very highly. 😳
