no it's not...how many captaincy material reasonably senior players do we have? one of our biggest problems has been persisting with out-of-form players in the hope that they will run into form at a future date...we have one of the biggest talent pools to select from, let's use it...if some of these newbies don't cut it in international cricket, that's another thing, but not trying them out is the bigger crime...for example, what is sehwag doing anywhere near the odi team? he hasn't done anything to warrant selection nothwithstanding his most recent two scores(the bermuda one of course doesn't count, even his recent score is not that significant)...what is pathan doing in this world cup squad? he shouldn't even have been in the 15...Who is saying Tendulkar or other seniors are undroppable right now? It is stupid that you say you want a major overhaul in the team and think it will happen while retaining the captain as the captain is (or should be) the main mind behind the team and even if you change several players, it wont cause much difference if the management remains the same more often than not as shakeups haven't happened, mindsets remain.
But still, you are playing the World cup and you need to be up to the situation and moreover with the batting lineup IND has, more closer match expected than this.Let's not forget the excellent performance by SriLanka is also the reason for India's demise here.
You are saying regarding two issues. Changing players versus changing captain/team management.no it's not...how many captaincy material reasonably senior players do we have? one of our biggest problems has been persisting with out-of-form players in the hope that they will run into form at a future date...we have one of the biggest talent pools to select from, let's use it...if some of these newbies don't cut it in international cricket, that's another thing, but not trying them out is the bigger crime...for example, what is sehwag doing anywhere near the odi team? he hasn't done anything to warrant selection nothwithstanding his most recent two scores(the bermuda one of course doesn't count, even his recent score is not that significant)...what is pathan doing in this world cup squad? he shouldn't even have been in the 15...
you are right, never realized he had deteriorated that much...If you look at his ODI performances for last 4-5-6 years, yes he is mediocre, add his batting and fielding and that is even worse.
Great day for Bangladesh cricket..Whatmore,Ashraful, Tamim and Mashrafe are smiling in the stands
no don't put words in my mouth...a major overhaul can happen with a lot of non-performing team members removed and young blood introduced instead...it can but it doesn't necessarily mean that there needs to be a new captain...it is clear that this team isn't getting the job done....dravid cannot be chucked out of the team, neither can ganguly right now, tendulkar's place in my opinion is questionable, i thought about yuvraj as well as captain but what credentials does he have that these guys didn't/don't have? if not yuvraj, who else is there whose place in the team is assured, who has a good head on his shoulders, who is a cool thinker and can possibly take the team to another level...i can't think of anyone(kaif was being groomed at one point, now he is not even in the team)....so when you talk about replacing dravid, you've got to have a decent replacement in mind and you've got to justify why he would be a better choice(tendulkar was a disaster as a captain and now that he is past his best even as a batsman, it's really not the time to anoint him of all people)...You are saying regarding two issues. Changing players versus changing captain/team management.
We tried SO many players over the past couple of years. There was some thing wrong in the mindset of the team really and not players as Dravid-Chappell were given the players they wanted. It was not as if players were forced down the throat of Dravid-Chappell.
You mentioned, I repeat, that a major overhaul is required. You can change players for that but along with that, the more vital thing is to change the management if you really want an overhaul.
It is ludicrous to say options aren't available. When India brought Azhar as captain in 91-92, we could have said there aren't any options available too. We can go for stop gap seniors or a young guy like Yuvraj - depends on the selectors etc but if an overhaul is felt needed, it will not be achieved for India right now without changing the management.
So either say you don't want an overhaul or say you want an overhaul. Be clear what you want.

No it comes down to NRRIsn't India now out of it? I thought if 2 teams are equal on points the team that beat the other is through, and if 3 teams are equal then it goes down to run rate, that what I thought.
