Group B: Spain, Netherlands, Chile, Australia

Tom Halsey

International Coach
Barca have a massive hole at CB though. Spain have Sergio Ramos who comes in.
True but I think the key point is that both have been fundamentally worked out. Sure no-one could have seen that defensive performance coming and that wasn't to do with being worked out but their decline in general has been a trend.

Blind, Robben or RVP for motm?
Robben, Blind close 2nd and RVP for his ridiculous finishing. But Robben was all over them and even put a shift in defensively. Make no mistake, this was a grudge match...they wanted revenge for the final they lost.

Del Bosque has to forget the 4-2-3-1 and go with an attacking 4-3-3. They have to win 2 games because with the goals conceded here I'm not sure 4 points will be enough. Villa, Costa, Pedro; Xavi, Iniesta, Busquets; Carvajal, Ramos, Pique, Alba; Iker (he shouldn't be starting, but he's the Captain).

Surprised Chile have started Vidal v the crims. Guardian podcast said he could barely move on Wednesday and you suspect they'd have enough to get past the Aussies without him.

the defender looks awfully delighted with himself for the tackle too. either that or he's appealing for a free but no idea what that could be

Yeah probably the same order for me, but slightly partial to Blind. Two brilliant assists, numerous great crosses, plus gets bonus points for the Torres moment

That RVP header still just as good after ten replays
Live I was thinking exactly what he did, Casillas is off the line, just lob it over him...couldn't believe he did it with a header though; that's incredible technique + balls.

That Aussie woman in the crowd with the baby is single-handedly dismantling my wife's argument that I couldn't have taken my 16-month old son to the World Cup.
