Exactly how was that given when the foul on Maguire wasn't? Not that it matters of course.

Good start that. And Bellingham was the best player on the park. I hadn't seen much of him before, but he reminds me of a young Bryan Robson.

Bad luck to England fans, you just know if you concede 2 goals to Iran there's no chance you can win the world cup.
Ah well there's always 2026 to look forward to.

The new million minutes injury time calculation will ensure a high goal average for this World cup.

This was supposed to be a horrible 1-0 wasn't it?

Defending for those last two England goals was so so bad.

Good performance, going forwards in particular. Maguire had a good game as he usually does wearing the Three Lions. I don’t give a **** how he plays for United, very rarely lets England down which is why I love him. Though I won’t pretend his form this season gave cause for concern even if from a mental perspective.

Anyway, Saka incredible, Bellingham MOTM. Attacking subs all excellent. Lots to be positive about. Obviously no need to get carried away but as Pothas alludes to we normally limp through these games. Paraguay, Tunisia, USA, all spring to mind.

Yeah, this had "banana skin" (such a putrid cliche I can barely type it, but not sure what else to go with?) written all over it, but it was an absolute canter.

Iran looked marginally better than Qatar, but still pretty ordinary.

Iran's pen was a pen, strictly speaking, but I look forward to every corner being subject to such close inspection.

Reckon we'll see an average of a dozen penalties a game if they are.

I'm surprised Foden doesn't start, I'd have said he was the best of all of your attacking midfield options. Though tbf there's not much in it between any of them.

Yeah, but in the end, Raheem has the goals for england, and Gareth loves Mount.

I wonder how Bellingham won't quite fulfil his potential like most England heralded players.

Also I know this stuff has been discussed for decades but if a country can’t even fill a arisen for a England World Cup game, perhaps it’s not the best place to play a World Cup (reason number #50 I’m sure).
