Ez group, never doubted we'd qualify.
You were in Plymouth?A bloke I played cricket with in Plymouth was managing Brad Wheal when he went from South Africa to Scotland. Not sure if he still has him on his books.
I was. A lifetime ago now though. I played for Plymstock back in 2002. Are you from the area? You were in Plymouth?
I’m also ex Plymouth, went to Uni there but early/mid 90’s.I was. A lifetime ago now though. I played for Plymstock back in 2002. Are you from the area?
As 'easy' a group as could have been hoped for in fairness.Well played Scotland, They have had a great campaign and i hope we have games against them every summer. They are improving and have been unlucky not to get out the group
Glad that England have done so....Rain was wild, But we can move on still some massive issues and aside from Oman we have bowled very poorly and this needs to be addressed. I would like Duckett to be in the side for the next game, He needs to play.
As for our group. It's going to be tough. South Africa are a strange side. West Indies are improving and USA have been excellent. Still 3 more games to play at least.
COME ON ENGLAND
Literally bowled under arm to *win* a game, not throw it. Little bit surprised you’d use that as an example of trying to lose tbh.Trevor Chappell
Haha yeah, that's literally the worst example you could use. He did that not only to win, but to avoid a tie, not a loss.Literally bowled under arm to *win* a game, not throw it. Little bit surprised you’d use that as an example of trying to lose tbh.
12 games in the Super EightsSo after the group stage we have another group stage. there are 8 teams, why not go straight to knockouts with 4 QFs?
Oh TV revenue. So theres another 24 games before the SFs?
100%....I can't even fathom what Hazlewood was thinking by saying all of that. It was more than likely just banter but it put the Aussies right under the microscope in this game. So unnecessary and nothing to gain. This is a weird article. Australia only have Josh Hazelwood to blame for raising the idea of tanking or fiddling the result to knock out England. If he had just kept his mouth shut it wouldn't have become anywhere near as big an issue.
Australia throwing a game is the grim fantasy of conspiracy theorists | Geoff Lemon
The idea any international team would deliberately lose a match is something easily said, and almost impossible to dowww.theguardian.com
Yep, was utterly braindead, but he's an Oz pace bowler, so par for the course.100%....I can't even fathom what Hazlewood was thinking by saying all of that. It was more than likely just banter but it put the Aussies right under the microscope in this game. So unnecessary and nothing to gain.
Had the Aussies fallen short this would have been a thing given they had a shocker in the field with dropped catches.
It was still incredibly stupid. All he had to do was say something similar to Cummins.I think he was pretty obviously taking the piss.
I agree and I'm English. It was a scenario that had become obvious from the moment England lost to Australia. As good as it is having the Associate teams in the competition, any washouts are going to cause issues. Hazlewood also didn't raise the issue himself, he was responding to predictable questions from the Media. Yes, he could've answered them more responsibly, but you can imagine Stuart Broad for example, answering in a similarly cheeky manner.I think he was pretty obviously taking the piss.
