Match resumes in 5 mins

Why on earth isn't it called off

Denmark just had to watch one of their pals nearly snuff it

Thank goodness he's ok. That was horrifying to watch. Had my 4 year old watching with me and I was slow to realise quite what had happened. I don't feel like watching the rest of the match, surprised the players feel able to play it.

The latest reports say Eriksen himself told his team mates to continue the match during a Face Time video call.
Well hopefully that'll end the controversy stirring on twitter and elsewhere, I was watching the cricket so wasn't aware when it happened, so when I first heard he was already recovered, so wasn't as stressed by it as others obviously, rightly were, but yeah if he said it, right thing to do.

I did enjoy the match graphics telling me Denmark were leading 18-0 on shots on goal mere seconds before Finland went 1-0 up.

They actively requested it I heard. I think everyone is different. If it was me I would definitely want to play. Or do anything that wasn’t being alone with my thoughts.
I've just been reading about it and the players felt It would be easier to go back out there than have to get themselves up for it again tomorrow or any other day. I get that and I think like you say, you want that distraction and release.

Like grecian I wasn't watching at the time, though sadly because I was at the tip, but the horror of it hit me as soon as I checked my phone. You just don't expect it to happen. The fact he was already sitting up by the time he left the ground was a good sign, I guess his career may be done with now but seems insignificant in the grand scheme of things. Great work by all involved in saving him.

Yeah tremendous job but the medical staff on hand. They had some cardiologist bloke on the radio earlier who said ironically in some ways it was the best possible time for it to have happened, because of the amount of pros on hand to help etc who obviously wouldn't have been around if he had been at home or whatever.

Terrible stuff though. I really thought he'd had it. Doubt he'll play again now, but as above, hardly important in the grand scheme of things. Just a relief he's pulled through.

Yeah I remember when the Muamba thing happened and reading that if you're going to have a heart attack, a professional football match was the second best place to be, after hospital

Looking forward to Yeardo's thoughts on the matter tbh

This isn't based on anything concrete, but I'd be curious as to whether the insane schedule players in the top leagues have had for the last 12 months may have been a factor.

When younger people have this sort of episode (for want of a better word) it's usually due to an undetectable heart defect.

Yesterday reminded me of how social media responds to sudden incomprehensible tragedy by finding something tangential that should have been done differently and getting wildly, disproportionately furious about it. People gonna people I guess.

i think we went a little too fast from "it's what Eriksen would have wanted" to remembering that UEFA remains first and foremost loyal to their schedule and broadcasting partners above all else

I had to miss the start of the Finland/Russia match but had a score flash come up on my phone. I put the match on 20 minutes in and it's 0-0. In these days of VAR someone needs to produce an app that does negative score flashes.
