Nah, great reply! That's why he is so great! He talks the talk and all that!

He is just a great player. I really hope he can carry on like this for the tournament! It would be great fun!

Kirtley will play IMO. He was in the squad originally, pencilled in to open the bowling. I don't really know why he didn't play against Zimbabwe really, as Anderson only came into the squad as a replacement.

Zimbabwe's opening partnership has been really good to watch in this tournament so far IMO. My main problem with Twenty20 batting isn't the quick scoring as many people seem to think of me - it's the dire slogs shots which involve clearing the front leg and trying to hit the ball over the rope. Zimbabwe's openers have scored quickly, but by playing playing really good cricket shots rather than trying to hit everything for six. They might not be as effective as Afridi or Dwayne Smith, but I've really liked the way they've batted. If we see more of that and less six-hitting, I'll be converted in no time.

Also, the difference a good fielding side can make in this format is amazing. Zimbabwe have fielded brilliantly and it's made up for their samish, medium pace attack in a lot of ways. I've actually enjoyed watching them field which is something I've never actually said before while watching cricket.

And yes SP I know, I know - you don't care if I like it or not. Well I don't care if you care. ;)

Well, we fought bravely. That opening partnership was the first time I believed Zimbabwe were going to win a match in years... There just wasn't the nous when Brendan got out. Really want the Aussies to go out tomorrow, teach you to underestimate Zimbabwe, you fools.

Didn't see the game, but surprised to see Anderson & Schofield more so play. Looking at the scorecards it seems that Anderson's average death bowling was exposed, so hopefully the so called ``death specilaist`` Kirtley plays but i won't count on it. Schofield figures look good, but was he that good?

Schofield bowled really well, I was impressed. He changed his pace well, got some turn and bowled with good control barring the odd dire ball. The game was evenly poised when he and Dimi came on but they really took the game away from Zim with their bowling. How has Schofield ctually been going in List A cricket recently?

As for Anderson, his death bowling wasn't the problem really; he came on and bowled at the end when the game was gone to Masakadza and Utseya, but the main concern would have to be his opening spell, which was pretty pathetic.

I wouldn't take just 1 game to sentence Anderson or Broad just yet. They obviously came into the game having bounced India out and thought about doing the same. Just this wicket wasn't as hard and the direction of the short stuff was too wide. Broad made a good comeback but Anderson wasn't really given the chance to come back after his 1 poor over.

I fully expect Kirtley to come into the game tomorrow, we have a great chance to knock Australia out before they have a chance to settle. If Australia qualified i wouldn't be surprised to see them go on and win the whole thing.

Playing Kirtley would be a sizeable risk for he longer has the reasonability of taking the new ball with Sussex and in essence he is only a death bowler, which means he shouldn't see the ball to at least say overs 14. This is highly unlikely however, considering England would expect at least two overs out of him, upfront.

Someone go tell the smartarses on the BBC they've got their run-rate calculations wrong for England's group. For England to have a NRR of -1.2 England need to lose by a NRR of about 4.9 against Australia - if England bat second. This would mean they need to lose by about 95runs to get knocked out.

You can see all the rank novice efforts on the India v Scotland text commentary bit.

Fair enough then..

All the English media I'm looking at/seeing/hearing seem to be more interested in Australia going out than England going through. As it should be.
