Isn't Michael Hussey one of the best ODI batsmen of the year ?Tomm NCCC said:To be fair to you Jerome, The hat-tricks ive taken have been better than that, 2 false shots and a really dubios one for the LBW. At least he's hitting the stumps
And how many of those have there been in odi's? I don't know the answer to that question, btw, but I doubt whether thre's been many. If any. But in a way I disagree anyway. Even if the batsmen are slogging, there's far more pressure on the bowler in this situattion than at the start of the innings. Unbelievable stuff.sideshowtim said:Some people on cricbuzz calling this the best ODI hat-trick ever....
Seriously.
The best ODI hat-tricks are ones taken at the top of the order, the ones taken in the early overs when the batsmen aren't trying to bludgeon the living daylights out of anything. Not taking anything away from Taylor, but some people calling this the greatest hat-trick ever are kidding themselves.

Good call! I'll still take Taylor's though, if only because England were too horrible for words on that tour.Samuel_Vimes said:
An interesting point - certain posters were really having a go at Lara for batting down the order, but I bet they don't say the same about Hussey...Pratyush said:The idea is to save your better batsmen till the ball gets older to cut out risks while facing the newer ball on these pitches. They aren't very difficult but still it takes an effort to bat on them which is a sharp contrast from the flat tracks many players are used to. This is why Lara came in late and it might have set a precedence for the trickier pitches for some teams.
Which of course, no Australian has ever done...sideshowtim said:Windies weren't getting any wickets so they turned to yelling things at Gilchrist and Clarke and acting like children.
Nice to see some level-headed praise for a change.Ramnaresh Sarwan said:http://content-usa.cricinfo.com/ci/content/story/263630.html?CMP=OTC-RSSGayle is one of the top ten all-rounders of the world
It was Gilchrist’s call but Clarke should have run himself out, Gilchrist was the key wicket throughout. Clarke occupied the crease but struggled all game to time the ball effectively.aussie said:very disappointing result IMO, Australia should have never lost that game, its was very unlike Australia today, usually after getting that start with the ball they usually kill sides, but credit to Lara & Morton.
Then with the bat, West Indies were good early on, but Australia always had the game under control, what in gods name was Gilly running going geez, Taylor was very good though. Group A has now become very interesitng.
The Best hat-tricks are the one that win games. You can take a Hat-Trick of the top order batsman and still lose the game(India v Pakistan-3rd Test)sideshowtim said:Some people on cricbuzz calling this the best ODI hat-trick ever....

That's a dodgy one, remember the game very well. The umpire who gave all three lbws was BC Cooray. Every Indian who watched that game remembers that name.Samuel_Vimes said:Nice to see some level-headed praise for a change.
Oh, and on the hat-tricks, this should take the cake.
lolz...I still remember that match probably the worst piece of umpiring one can ever wish to see.Sanz said:That's a dodgy one, remember the game very well. The umpire who gave all three lbws was BC Cooray. Every Indian who watched that game remembers that name.
Okay, then. No sneaking doubts about this one.Xuhaib said:lolz...I still remember that match probably the worst piece of umpiring one can ever wish to see.
That's exactly what crossed my mind when Watto decided, in the third over with his score on zero, that a ball two feet outside off stump needed depositing over the midwicket fence. Wonder if Kato had a little giggle to himself?andyc said:I'm all for Watson opening the batting, but perhaps Australia could have used an anchor at the top of the order?
