Ricky Ponting has asked Taito to contain and pick wickets at the same time, sounds like a pretty uphill task for Taito considering the size of the Caribbean grounds any bloke bowling at his sort of pace would go for runs.

But if he rattles the batsmen and picks wickets i think he would do his job in the WC, an economy of 4.5 to 5.0 rpo is more of a realistic target with Taito IMO.

Anyways, Hoggy was batting the other day like Jacob Oram clearing his right leg and spanking the Scots everywhere, Watto was also pretty good down the order.

I think in the last 10 overs Watto and Hoggy's batting would be really important for the aussies.

Currently raining in Saint Kitts and there is a more than decent chance the reserve day maybe needed here. Heavy showers are also predicated for the South Africa Australia game next week. So it will be important that South Africa at least win one game heavily. For with the weather forecast as it is this group could for fall really foul to the elements. Although, as one website has proclaimed it never rains two days in a row in St. Kitts, well considering it rained yesterday such a comment means ****.

Picture on Cricinfo does not look to good, ground in covers and a big huge menacing cloud above.

Though I take it whatever happens today will be taking over to tomorrow? So if only 20 overs are possible today then they will just pick it up from there?

I couldn't find any confirmation of that, but there's a day in between all games at the same venue. Apparently though, umpires are under pressure from the icc to get games finished on the day...whether that means that want dark play I don't know...

News filters in that it would be a 40-overs game. 8 overs per bowler. Powerplay will be 10 , 5 and 1. Bright and sunny conditions!

And some of you have queried why the overs are being reduced instead of using the reserve day. The rule is reserve day will be used only if the game is curtailed or if 20 overs are not possible in both innings.

"Every effort will be made to complete the match on the scheduled day with any necessary reduction in overs taking place and only if the minimum number of overs necessary to constitute a match cannot be bowled on the scheduled day will the match be completed on the reserve day."
Isn't having the game 40-overs a side curtailing it?

One innings is never enough to make a watertight argument, but de Villiers making his doubters like me a little smug.

I cant think of a player that is as technically poor as him being so highly rated. He is very talented and is capable of scoring runs, just not the volume of a quality player or what is expected of him.

Yeah they really need to do something about him. Tremendous potential, but I can't see him in the test side unless he radically revamps his technique. He's been abysmal in tests, and in ODIs he won't be making a big mark unless he does something. Brilliant athlete - mediocre cricketer.
