It most definitely was his selfishness , cast your mind back to the time ..I did not read it that way... it read more as his selfishness meant he did not get picked by the selectors... rather than he made a personal decision and made himself unavailable.
You keep using this world of 'selfishness' and the implication is you are rendering a morale judgement on his choices... he acted for his own self-interest, for reasons we can all understand, but acting for you own self-interest does not make you selfish. SA lost out on a fine cricketer, but he did nothing to any of us in making that decision. It most definitely was his selfishness , cast your mind back to the time ..
It's late 2016 , Rilee Rossouw wins Man of the Series vs Australia in a 5-0 rout during the ODI series played in SA . Rossouw was named in the Test Squad that toured Australia the following month unfortunately he picks up an injury and doesn't play in that series or the test series against Sri Lanka that follows after . So definitely he is in South Africa's Test plans , then he drops a bombshell on South Africa together with Kyle Abbott that he going Kolpak with Hampshire , not only ruling himself out from future test selection but the 2017 Champions Trophy which he was definitely going to be in the line up for . It wasn't hard to get into the Test side either , AB De Villiers missed a couple of series and flirted with retirement and the guy who got an opportunity Thenuis De Bruyn didn't exactly pull out any trees...
It wasn't patriotism that has Rilee Rossouw back , Kolpak is over and a T20 World Cup is the perfect platform to boost your IPL , Dubai T20 league etc. stocks up .
I feel the same way about CronjeYou keep using this world of 'selfishness' and the implication is you are rendering a morale judgement on his choices... he acted for his own self-interest, for reasons we can all understand, but acting for you own self-interest does not make you selfish. Maybe... but his decisions and coercion, from a position of power, directly impacted other players careers and lives. And also lost SA cricket lots of goodwill both with the local community and internationally. If it was just him making a bad decision, then maybe, but it was far worse than that.I feel the same way about Cronje
not sure if srsI feel the same way about Cronje
