Tbf they were probably hoping Afridi and Rauf could seal the game in their over instead of leaving one of them to the last when the game could be over. They were close too, but each of them bowled a filthy long-hop on the last ball

bigger issue is only using 5 bowlers imo. do they not have a 6th bowling option?
Iftikhar bowls some offies but with all the right handers and spin going the journey in general in the game it never really made any sense to bowl him.

Maybe they shouldn't have picked a prank cricketer to be a specialist #8 batsman though.

Gotta be up there. Although Stokes's in the 2016 final would run it close.

Definitely the worst over I've seen that a bowler has taken two poles in.
Nah this was much worse than Stokes' - in that case the batsman still had to execute

Let it be known that at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, between 10:47 and 10:54 PM, Australian Eastern Daylight Time, on the 23rd of October, A.D. 2022, Mohamed Nawaz (3) bowled the worst ever final over to a T20 international.
And given the Stokes and Broad efforts that is some achievement ?

So, just looking him up, Asif Ali has played 54 T20I's and averages 15.48, HS of 41* and S/R of 135.

Who is he friends with that he's still getting picked?

This. Giving the last over to your worst bowler, genius.
The genius goes to the selection that only had five bowling options, only had three pacers on a greenish deck (granted, Pakistan have no player close to the caliber of Pandya), and picked a guy at eight for... what reason? Ensure a screw up.

Only the last ball Rauf bowled was really a bad ball. The second to last ball was a perfectly good ball that no batsman had dealt with all night that Kohli somehow managed to absolutely pan.

What an insane finish! My hands are still shaking; I haven't felt this kind of excitement from a cricket game in years. About 10 overs back my thoughts were that a peak Kohli might have won this game but the Pakistan quicks were going to be too good. And then Kohli showed he still has some of his old genius; those two sixes in particular were insane. And then of course all that craziness in the last over. Can't forget Ashwin who kept so cool under huge pressure.
