Being a glass is half full kinda guy, im looking at the radar and thinking it's possible this band of rain could pass by 7pm. Anyone else got any optimism?
When I looked yesterday the hourly forecast basically said just that; it'd rain solidly all afternoon then clear away by 7pm.

Whenever I look at the radar for Melbourne at the moment it looks like 100-200km away to the south or south west is only small spots of cloud, but by the time it gets to Melbourne it's formed into big clumps of raincloud. So I'm not that optimistic.

Think I saw discussion somewhere else about the Docklands stadium (with the roof) and it's booked out for other events this time of year.

Gutted for Afghan fans, two consecutive wash-outs to go along with their lost and they can kiss any faint hopes of progressing goodbye...
And these were meant to be their first ever games at the MCG too, right?

Definitely not great for the players or fans, but tbh there's a good chance they would have lost both games and this gives them 2 free points

So glad they scheduled a tournament in the equivalent of April in the UK.

Check schedule for November oh loads of pointless white ball matches. ICC are morons.

Well it'd be nice from a watching cricket perspective. Not so nice for an Australia advancing to finals perspective - I think your guys will smash us (again).

I think its more coz CA dont want to give up their prime season. Same reason why WCs happen in the junkest time in England too. Its funny how ICC is expected to put their foot down when other countries demand the same.

ICC should not let any ICC event happen in a country unless the host nation gives them the prime summer timeslot.

Normally October in Australia would have better weather than the UK in July.
Nah

Generally pisses down in many places

That’s why Marsh Cup games have traditionally been played at a couple of venues

Playing games in Melbourne was always a risk as is Brisbane

Usually tournaments here are scheduled for Jan-Feb. Part of an issue is that the window that people actually watch cricket in here is really short, basically only December and January.

Climatologically speaking it's wetter in Melbourne in Oct-Nov-Dec and wetter in Sydney in Jan onwards. But this isn't a normal year, a lot of places in the Southeast (including Sydney) have broken their October rainfall records.

There's a reason the flood map looks like this:

Well everyone bemoaned any game cancelled in 2019 and looks like this one will be even more disastrous for cancellations.

Mind looks like Aus will get to play Ireland and Afghanistan in better weather so may play in their favour.

England would've been most of the way through had they beat Ireland. Unlikely to be a game tonight and now they'll definitely have to beat NZ.

Radar showing the rain has more or less cleared the city, and the inspection is set for 7:30. Once again the wisdom of at least Sydney and Melbourne not investing in covers for the outfield has to be called into question.

February or even March would have been better weather wise though
