So please tell us how many goals they create (or did in Cantona's case) a season then?Scaly piscine said:No they aren't so much more at all. They're not great passers and they're not particularly creative.
If that's the case, how come no other players in current football create as many as Henry then?Scaly piscine said:They've made no more 'brilliant goals' than you'd expect anyone to make after playing so many times for good teams.
I think Shearer has to match them purely for scoring 30 in a season like it was nothing.marc71178 said:So please tell us how many goals they create (or did in Cantona's case) a season then?
Both are very high up in the best players in Premiership history - in fact for me, I can't think of many others to match them.
Why are the CDMs and France so impotent then (bar the odd weak opposition)?marc71178 said:If that's the case, how come no other players in current football create as many as Henry then?
Because there are other players who play just as often for good teams...
Scoring two headers in a World Cup Final against Brazil is pretty exceptional. If chief poseur had been on the pitch in the same positions his headers would only have troubled the cameramen.Matteh said:Interestingly enough i'm suprised he picked him as I never really saw the fascination with Zidane myself tbh. Only time i saw him do something out of the top drawer was the CL final where he scored that cracker.

Indeed - he's so deluded you have to laugh really.Tom Halsey said:The argument with Scaly regarding Henry and Cantona going predictably in my absence, I see.
Says the guy who's so in love with anyone French he thinks anyone who isn't taken in by the hype surrounding players like chief poseur must be racist.marc71178 said:Indeed - he's so deluded you have to laugh really.
Come on Jono, I know you're trying to wind our Scaly up, but you must know it's a metaphorJono said:How do you have a flat track in soccer?
Xenophobia and Racism are subtley different.Scaly piscine said:Says the guy who's so in love with anyone French he thinks anyone who isn't taken in by the hype surrounding players like chief poseur must be racist.
English domestic football lacked flair, at that time anyone with the slightest bit of skill was idolised to such an insane level. They guy scored 9 goals in 28 games for Leeds. I've seen plenty of Cantona on TV as well so you needn't bother telling me how brilliant he was because he wasn't. He was no better than most of the regulars he played with at Manchester United. Unfortunately very few people actually watch the game itself objectively and instead believe all the hype because there's this guy with a 'stylish' French name, bit of skill and a knack of posing... works every time with you gullible lot unfortunately.Matteh said:Xenophobia and Racism are subtley different.
You said Cantona was average for Leeds, when he played a massive part in them winning the First Division from nowhere.
That game with 22 guys kicking a round ball from side to side of a rectangular pitch for an hour and a half, with something interesting occasionally happening.Scaly piscine said:What's soccer?
What's the point of asking me if you know I'm just trying to wind him up?GeraintIsMyHero said:Come on Jono, I know you're trying to wind our Scaly up, but you must know it's a metaphor
Don't know. I was just making sure, but wanted to be careful not to patronise.Jono said:What's the point of asking me if you know I'm just trying to wind him up?
