GB's Season Preview...

YORKSHIRE

My tip for this season: Yorkshire to be in the top 2 of the Division 1 Four day league.. Manager Jason Pike has built this team into a formidable 4 day outfit. Law, Tendulkar, Fitzgerald and West head their batting line-up, whilst, Weeraratne, Hamilton, Gough and White will lead the charge with the ball…
In previous seasons Yorkshire have lacked depth and have struggled, but this season they have a huge amount of talent throughout their squad and they will be a force when the end of the season comes round…
Their 1 Day side is expected to challenge for promotion back to the top flight but the hype is all about their 4 day chances..
Player to Watch Out For: After struggling to keep a spot in the QLD 1st team last season, Stuart Law has been given a lifeline by Yorkshire this season and I expect him to pay their support by scoring plenty of runs…

MUMBAI

The question on everyones lips so far this season is, Has Mumbai’s bubble burst??
They don’t look as powerful as last season despite picking up Graham and Troughton, and I expect they will have a tougher time of it this season…
They would still be rated as favourites for the 4 day league despite these question marks but with all the other teams increasing their strength notably the pressure will be on…
Darden will remain a key, but teams will be targeting him and if he has an off season then Mumbai may struggle to keep the pace up…
They will look to Graham to give support to Darden, despite Graham not performing as expected last season.. If Graham fires Mumbai will be almost unstoppable..
Player to Watch Out For: H.Francis could be the surprise in this line-up. He put together some good performances in his youth games and if he can step up to the mark Mumbai could have a lethal top 3…

SURREY

Surrey had a great season 2 with their 1st WCC title in the 4 day version of the game, and they will be looking to continue their form as they move to the top grade..
They have a very strong side with the likes of Blewett and Thorpe leading their batting line-up, and the likes of Tudor and Bicknell leading the bowling attack…
Surrey will be keen to prove they can crack it with the big guns, but with the power of the top division this year they will have a tough task…
They are a chance to get promotion in the 1 day league and if they can maintain their spot in the 4 day version they could have a Season 4 challenge for both Division 1 titles…
Player to Watch Out For: The Key to their 4 day survival will rest on the shoulders of how 1st round draft pick Greg Blewett will play..
He struggled at Somerset last season in a under strength team, but with more depth around him he could shine as Surrey attempt to remain in the top flight…

SOUTH AUSTRALIA

After what Manager Brendon Goff described as a disappointing Season 2 SA look set for a big season.. The squad looks much stronger than Season 2 with more focus on batting and bowling rather than allrounders. Watson, Harris, Smith, Laxmann, Kumble and Singh all departed in what looked a surprising move but SA have picked up some great talent in Dennett, Axelby, De Silva, and Snow. Added to that are the talents of rookies French and Oliver. SA’s main chance in Season 3 will be in the 4 day version, but consistency is the main priority. Goff also wants his team to progress further in the VB Cup which they have been eliminated in the 1st round 2 seasons straight…
SA are yet to make an major impression since their 1st season Division 2 One Day title, but this could be the year…
Player to Watch Out For: B.Dennett is one who will perform extremely well this season.. He gives Goff another option other than Harrity and Bond.. Look for Dennett to be a leading Wicket-taker in Division 1 this season…

He'll probably put you down as a struggler...just like me...when I'm one of the strongest in the division, most probably the 2nd strongest 4D team...
In your eyes maybe... ;)

Having retained the entire bowling attack that was head and shoulders above anybody else in last season's 4 Day Competition (and that's indisputable), Surrey say :P to the artist formerly known as GB.

TAMIL NADU

Tamil Nadu have without doubt been strugglers in the WCC after releasing their star batsman S.Sharath at the end of the 1st Season. This year I see as their turning point.
They may not get promoted and may even get relegated, BUT they have some good talent which next season they can build on and I believe with the right trading they can make their way back to the top level of the WCC. Their bowling is their strong point, with Rose, Chapman, Shrinivas and Highsmith leading their charge. Whilst in the batting department they have Jayasuriya, Flowers, Samuels and Highsmith.
For Tamil Nadu to avoid relegation I think 1 or 2 wins against either Karnataka, Kent or Lancashire, on top of being consistent throughout the season will see them with a strong 4 Day finish..
Their 1 day season will be a lot tougher but Tamil Nadu, have proven they can be a thorn in the side of any team if they turn up to play..
Player to Watch Out For: E.Flowers and S.Highsmith are both very important to this TN side.. They can provide the runs their bowlers very much need to get some wins.. Over the years they have struggled to do this but these 2 could give the TN fans something to cheer about…

I think u mean Rose,Chapman,Shrinivas and Engineer as my bowling attack :). also i think i should dowell. thanx for that m8. atleast i'm in with a shot this year :):)

And the only stat that matter is the final table - you think you;re the second best side in four day, but I dare say every other manager thinks their side is as good.

Yes but there is no final table as yet. Look at my 4D bowling attack, averages of 22, 25, 21, 24 and 2 part timers 28 and 36. Other than ACT you find me a better attack in Div 5...this is where stats don't lie...

More importantly in terms of VC - look at the S/R's of your bowlers...

Your lowest is what 46?

I would expect you to do allright in the 4D game's.

However I can see you coping a few thrashings in the One dayers I simed 100 games between Jamaica & Mashonaland and I won 73 of them mainly because your team really needs your top order to make 90% of your runs since you have souch a long tail.
