Some statistical work regarding how some elite test batsmen fared in their careers, in terms of average and Innings per 50+ scores with respect to how the the top 7 batting position wise fared in their career spans.

Sir Garry Sobers and Steve Smith with the best ratios. Sachin having a ratio >1.4 despite that long a career span, shows how consistent he was throughout his test career.

Sir Viv Richards and Kumar Sangakkara emerge as the batsmen to be scoring 50+ scores more frequently than the others.

Interesting choice of elite batsmen. I will also say that the choice of 1-7 will make older batsmen look better, as the keeper batsman position has evolved.

Actually looking at the numbers there it would go Viv, Kane, Gavaskar, Smith, Root and then Sangakkara.
