Stupid risk i think its called?Hit4Six said:hey does anyone know if there is a proper name given to ganguly's 'dance-down-the-track' sixes or is that just what they're called?
The Hoick is a proper name - it's just a front-foot pull, really.James90 said:I think the shovel/flick/hoik deserves a name. It's been played by many...Marillier, Lehmann, Campbell, Tushar Imran, McCullum. It's a well known run scorer, it deserves a name
Richard said:No, it's just been dubbed that by those seeking to avoid the fact that it's pure improvisation used only when scoring runs as quickly as possible is all that matters.
Doesnt make it an improper shot as you put it.Richard said:It doesn't matter whether people play it with accomplishment - it is not an authentic shot, therefore it for a name it merely deserves "piece of improvisation".
Says who? Just because it is unorthodox doesn't mean it shouldn't be given a name. Thats just stupid. The reverse sweep is unorthodox but it had a name. Sorry Richard but you don't have the authority to decide whether or not it should have a name.Richard said:It does - it's not an "orthodox" stroke, it's improvisation, so that is all it should be termed as.
A very good point. The reverse sweep is unorthodox but it had a name.
Andy Flower played it wellnightprowler10 said:A very good point.
Btw, who did it best, the reverse sweep I mean. I think Miandad was good at it, except of course in the 92 WC.
