Jumno

First Class Debutant
Both great batsman of Australia.

Ricky Ponting had a fantastic period in the early-mid 2000s. From memory, he scored two hundreds in SA, saved a vital test against a good England attack in 2005.

He's only blip is on India.

Edit-I should've checked the threads, G Chappell edged out Ponting in the last poll.

Had no idea it was such a blip too and it's not a small sample size either. Final average in England could maybe have been higher too.

Chappell was superb and has WSC performances on his side. But he didn't play that much outside Australia and batted more at 4. Ponting went in first drop and played everyone and everywhere. I suspect the answer is Chappell but easier to build a case for Ponting based on his career record.

Chappell looked far more Australian obviously.

****, now I wanna adjust Trumper's average to Gooch's and see what he'd average, fantastic

iirc BB does it via standerdising them to 31 (average output I think) while I just divided the overall exaggerate average of Gooch's games via Trumper's games, 29.6 for Gooch and 26.6 for Trumper and multiplied that to Trumper"s average.

Could you provide a link to that?

Edit:- that was only done for two batters?
