Future series predictions....

Just been using the ICC predictor tool to see what some possible outcomes would arise, and what changes if any would happen to the test points table.....IMO South Africa have quite the easy route to go past England in a few months, and if England don't win against Pakistan and Sri Lanka (Though they very well *might* win) then SA will easily go ahead, and by some distance. India are unlucky in that their next few series are against lesser opposition and even if they win they won't climb the ladder at all, so I can figure out anyway. Australia are one team who could climb quite a bit IF they win anything.

By my calculations, and I'm hopeless at maths, if South Africa beat Australia 2-0 in SA, then SL 3-0 also in SA, then they will go to #1. Both those series happen before England plays again, so they can't do anything about it.

Gonna back Aussies to come back well over the next few months. I think they're a better side than the Sri Lankans as the bowling attack is sharper, though home advantage should narrow the deficit. Australia have always done pretty well against SA too, even when SA have had the better side.

Blanking Australia 2-0 would be a difficult task for SA, one would think, despite Australia's recent troubles. SA don't seem to perform too well of late when they go into a series the favorites.

Besides, they've been far too sloppy at home for a while now. I can remember far too many series in the past half-a-decade where the touring team has been able to draw first blood. Sure, they've been difficult to beat in a series, but on the other hand, they haven't won many recently either.

Why isn't West Indies tour of India on there?
Series only seem to go on there when schedules are released. I don't know if that's the case here, but I know India often leave the dates until late so perhaps that's it?

What happens when we whitewash Srilanka, South Africa and India this year?
You go to 120 points if you whitewash Srilanka, South Africa, Newzealand and India though that could change with the other teams moving up and down but at the moment it takes you to 2nd.

Not gonna happen though:p

I honestly can't see SA beating SL and Aus 5-0.

Both those sides can bat and are pretty stubborn.

Oh yeah, forgot about the kiwis. A whitewash against them is a given though.

We should be able to knock the Sri Lankans over though tbh.

Can see them beating Srilanka 3-0 tbh if the weather doesn't play spoilsport.

Australia will be tougher though and can go either way.

Well seeing SL has a pathetic record in SA i don't see how its out of the question to say SA will do anything other than thrash SL. If Australia manage to come away from SA without losing 2-0 it will be a triumph. Our bowlers will be knackered after 3 tests in SL.

Neither 3-0 v SL nor 2-0 v Australia are highly likely, though if I had to I'd take the former. Oz seem to have our number in general, SL only in SL.*

Windies, just over a year ago. While they've lost only 1 series in over 5 years, they're struggling to recapture the consistency that won them away series in England and Australia within the space of a few months. That said, they've played surprisingly few Test matches of late - around just 20 compared to England and India's near 40 tests.

Australia has a good chance of upsetting SA, I feel. In SA's top 7, Petersen hasn't set the world on fire, Prince has had a quiet couple of years after his fantastic England tour, and I'm not convinced that playing 6 batsmen + Boucher is the way to go due to the long tail.

On their bowling front, they're still looking for the 3rd seamer. On a related note, what happened to that De Wet who was impressive against England ?

Think Imran Tahir will make a huge difference. He's an actual wicket taker, unlike Harris, and will mean that there's still some bowling pressure after Steyn and Morkel finish the opening bowling.

Having said that, I feel SA will win 1-0, dont think they can dominate Australia 2-0.

Tahir you would think would make a difference, but this series is VERY early in SA's season, pitches will hardly be dry and spinning, they will be green.......battle of the fast bowlers. We have always played SA in SA very late in their season, Feb/March, October is pretty early for them, their season would've barely started. Pretty much like playing tests in England in early May, bowlers paradise. Hence I reckon Steyn and co will rip through our feeble batting lineup with ease, especially seeing we are coming from the low spinning wickets in SL....

Saffa are overrated because they have a couple of bona-fide ATGs in their side. Bottom line is they are a better side on paper than in reality, they never win any series FFS.

I'm backing Australia to climb up to 2nd over the next couple of years. England top, Oz 2nd and the rest can GAGF, the natural order restored

Would be stellar if I was right though as I'd love the Ashes double header in two years to be 1 V 2

Pak play England and SL in the next 1 year. If they win both series (highly unlikely) do they go above both SL and Australia?
