I wouldn't believe a word that comes out of Cairns' mouth. That's not anything but another thing that's come out of his mouth at this stage.

Sat down to watch the media opp at the airport...granted I'm not a body language expert or any sort of psychologist but this guy has liar written all over him.

Why in god's earth is it necessary to state how many miles it is to London and back? We're all geographically aware to a degree. That's a tactic liars use to add weight to what they are saying.

Throwing Lou's mental state in to discredit anything that may have come out of his mouth..this guy will stop at nothing.

With all due respect mate that's something of a sweeping statement given that "Rough Ron" Thwaites couldn't shake Cairns and Mr Justice Bean felt able to say that Modi had

singularly failed to provide any reliable evidence that Mr Cairns was involved in match-fixing or spot-fixing or even that there were strong grounds for suspicion that he was
or don't you believe in the presumption of innocence?

I've edited out most of your post Skyliner, please don't make those kind of accusations.

Martin Crowe there raising the prospect of Cairns developing bad blood with Howsie's "mean girls of NZ cricket" (Fleming, McCullum, Vettori, Mills) during the 2002 player strike. Cairns broke ranks to open up his own dialogue with Snedden, and get all of NZ's players back on the park.
Interesting although Dion Nash was quite a major player in the strike and he was a groomsman at Cairns' wedding a few years ago. Also, the idea that any bitterness about that would be sufficient to motivate a false allegation of match fixing seems off the planet.

Lou Vincent being banned for only three years seems extremely lenient, even if he's already 35, though probably part of the deal he did.

Especially considering he retired from ALL cricket earlier in the year  So what difference does it make exactly?

I reckon it is very, very lenient considering he confessed to being involved in full on match fixing for multiple games across the world.I mean the Pakistan trio were found guilty of a single instance of spot fixing (a lesser, but still repugnant crime, imo) and banned for much longer.

Surely we need some consistency here. I think a life ban was in order, at minimum. Maybe as a 'reward' for his confession, they'd not criminally prosecute. Even that, I think is generous considering the trio above all served jail time.

Do they have no evidence that he was involved in any matches in the UK?
Only the supergrass Vincent, and thankfully our legal system has learnt that the uncorroborated evidence of one of those is no basis upon which to run a fair trial

Yep, meant "additional" to Vincent.

Interesting. The libel claim with Modi was in England too yeah?

So far nothing is sticking.
