the location of the ball shouldn't be changing upon each re-watch. you might be watching some dodgy highlights. seek help if this problem persists

What a game, Best game of cricket ever played

New Zealand didnt have the luck
big claim, I hit the winning runs off the last ball of the match once. that's something that didn't happen in this game and two teams had the chance to do it! i think my game has the edge

Tbh, I don't know about this. I had thought at the end of the last world cup this would be our time as all the young guns (Boult, Williamson et al) would have matured to their peak. They have, but we're weaker than 2015 imho because our opening combo was pretty abysmal this time round (no fault of nipples), we didn't really have a solid finisher (soz CdG but you're no Grunter) and Santner is no Vettori.

It's not as though the current side is ancient. A conceivable XI for 2023 could be:

1. Seifert 24 or Phillips 26
2. Nicholls - 31
3. Williamson - 32
4. Young - 30
5. Latham - 31
6. Neesham - 32 (so impressed with him this tournament)
7. as yet unidentified lower order biffer (Clarkson?)
8. Santner - 31
9. Henry - 31
10. Fergsuon - 32
11. Boult - 33

Ideally we want one or two more under 30s. I could see Henry not being there - as much as I love him - as he seems like he'll forever struggle to cement himself in our XI. Ferguson could break down. Nicholls may move to 5 and Latham may just Peter out in ODIs. I mean, Guptill would be 36 - it's conceivable he could still be around as well.

I always thought a player peak is 28-32. If anything there's a lack of a Taylor-esque experienced player in the squad.

I think our bowling was stronger this tournament, but batting far weaker. I was surprised we made the final, tbh.

But yeah, also the subcontinent factor.
For 7 I am fully expecting, and hoping that corey anderson comes back into play. I also expect the same from Milne, Sodhi, rachin, Kuggelejin. All of them need to be involved and should seriously step up. Want them all to get tons of IPL experience in the next 4 years and get ready for the subcontinent.

We will be a strong side in 2023. We've made the semis in the subcontinent with lesser players. But will we win the f***ing cup??

Expectations have shifted greatly. We have gone from perennial semi finalists to perennial finalists to now, which is "when will we win the whole damn thing for once, please".

To see the real state of English cricket , the lauchpad for the online County commentary had a couple of thousands ...for division 2 it was 863 when I started this sentence . The Youtube stream of the Durham match , has 53 people watching . So we're looking at thousands of Brits making use of the totally free cricket available today rather than millions .
Why would they tune it when they know that the main payoff (WC and Ashes) are behind a paywall. To be honest, India has it spot on
One of the most under rated aspects of the rise of India cricket from the late 90s until now is the easy access to the content and the game...whether it's watching the game on your phone or TV, it's dirt cheap. Access to Test matches is inexpensive...RS 500 for 5 days in decent seats...doesn't even amount to $10 USD. Heck, I went for the T20 WC games in 2016 and got 3 tickets for good games for a grand total of 2k and it was the lower levels at the Wankhede. People love cricket in India because primarily the game is accessible to them. This is why sports like Kabaddi and Badminton have gained momentum in terms of rating as well. The ECB and CA have got it all wrong with the assumption that a cricket loving audience would pay a premium to watch the games. Sure you will have a certain section that will, but there is another avenue known as advertising revenue, which in this day and age isn't hard to get. Volume vs Premium isn't hard to decipher. In the day and age where, MLB, NFL, NBA is trying to eat into your market by hosting games in the UK, AUS and India, and making the content more accessible than ever before, Cricket shamefully is headed the other way. For as much flack as the BCCI gets, and some of it is well deserved, they should be thoroughly praised for making their product easily available at very low premiums if any.

I'm just hoping everything went against us so it could inspire the next generation which will provide us with 3-4 GOAT tier players and win us 3 consecutive WCs.

Has there been a team who gotten it worse in terms of calls/luck on a big stage like this? Felt like we were up against England and the cricket gods lol. It was just written for England, congrats to them as they were the best team in the tournament and have been the best for the last 4 years.

We're probably going to win the rugby world cup and the next generation will all get poached by rugby.

Its pretty obvious that Will young will come into the setup as soon as he is back. He could be the replacement for outgoing player such as rosco (no one can really replace rosco tho). If Gup goes, can't relly think of any batsman in the domestic scene at the moment who can take his place. George worker?? For our good, I hope either one of rosco or gup are still in the squad and firing in 4 years time.

I can't believe I ate the whole thing
I love Gup, but if he does retire before the next WC, I hope it's sooner rather than later. Maybe a year after partnering Nicholls so he can get his experience up, then hand over to Seifert or Phillips.
