Final – India v New Zealand – Sunday, March 9 – Dubai

Silly Point 2.0

School Boy/Girl Captain
Been a very predictable tournament tbh. Everyone knew India were the best side, NZ second best, SA and Australia decent but not quite good enough, and England and Pakistan absolutely shite.

I can't believe I ate the whole thing
The little things matter, but ultimately we're beaten because India bowled 38 overs of spin for 144 and we're not quite capable of dealing with that. At 75-3 early on, we didn't feel capable or brave enough to go harder at Varun or Kuldeep, to break them up
Yeah like the other match we just got too tied down from the spinners. Varun the main difference there I think.

Yep, bowling changes were poor tonight, what immediately springs to mind:

* Bracewell didn't bowl until the 20th over
* Bowled O'Rourke before Jamieson in the death overs.
* Left Phillips with 5 overs
Also the field placing. Can recall Vettori really squeezing the Saffers with men in the circle in that 2011 QF, needed that sort of approach.

Whatever it takes!!!

Well, you could well have been 220 all out even today had we held the catches, so if you had gone for that, you may have been 175 all out too. But yeah, those are the risks you sometimes take on the big day.

Lets face it, India faces so much pressure in these tournament finals. You can literally see it in these players faces. They are more relieved than delighted when they win these trophies. Its an advantage for any team playing us in the KOs, esp. finals.

It's all over! Jadeja hits the winning runs and India lift the Champions Trophy 🏆.
They've been the best side , senior players guiding the team all the way . Congratulations 🎊👏

Congratulations India! Putting the off-field nonsense aside, best team in the tournament by far. Great to see the use of spin as a weapon.

Kuldeep's two wickets were the clinchers for me. That ball first up to Rachin, he couldn't have drawn that up better. And Kane, unfortunately, that was a weak shot that meant Mitchell especially, who couldn't pick Kuldeep, felt he had to go ultra conservative. At 75-1, we could have gone harder.
