version 1.02 still doesn't work, I've had enough of downloading the updates,

I may look at this when it's released on cd - hopefully all these bugs will by then be ironed out.

Hi Glenn, Olli and the rest fo the team.

I've downloaded 1.02 and must say on first impressions, many of the negatives I have previously expressed concring the unrealistic game play seem to have been dealt with well.
Some further constructive criticisms to look at.
There still is a tendency for part time bowlers to feature predominantly. Phil Jaques seems to do well for NSW, as does Ponting for Tas.
Also as I approached lunch on the 2nd day of my first Sheild game as Qld v NSW the game crashed to my desktop.
Well done to date for the improvements made.
I would like to see in future versions Man of Match awards, and an ability to give instructions to players during game specifically ask a player to try and retain strike when batting with the tail.
Kudo's on lifting the scoring rate in One Dayers, and also in addressing the imbalance towards batsmen over bowlers. I've seen some impressive bowling figures now in addition to some impressive individual batting totals.
Now that the game engine seems to be more realistic I will endeavour to play a few games tonight and will post any observations I can glean from it.
Also apoligies if some of my earlier posts were harsh. In defense they were linked to the high expectations I had for this game after reading news release, website news, and various posts here by those involved in the game for months.
from my limited trial to date of 1.02 I can see there is a game of imense potential here, and with some further additions in future releases specifically that make the game experience more immersive I think this will be a great addition and improvement on any cricket game out there to date.
Some further squad options such as training and perhaps some form of interaction with players ie coach/player/media comments (like FM2006) and this will truly be a total cricekt experience.

Furthermore, well done for the prompt attention to gameplay improvements. Obviously some late nights put in by those involved.

How can Jacob Oram not be in the game? I understand Sherlock but Oram? Come on.

I see the transfer system has a complete overhaul, with 2 overseas players now allowerd, but much less chance to sign players (good players) as teams simply sign up there best players on contracts straight away. Much more realistic, although I was excited in my 1.01 version at the prospect of the likes of Pietersen, Bell, Strauss, G Jones, Harmison, Bicknell etc joining my lancashire side (all were signed up but never played a game as the transfer didn't go through.

Now the best players available won't even be good back up players for Lancashire.

I was able to sign Andrew Strauss, i just put an offer in as soon as the transfer market opened to buy other players:)

Hmmm, for some reason for me i cant seem to get 1.02 to work

uninstalled 1.01 completely from the PC (even went as far as clearing the registry out when it didnt work), downloaded 1.02, installed, but it seems to think its 1.01.......

With the fielding, it just doesn't seem realistic at all - and when you are doing a sports management simulation - the mind has to make it real, helped if possible by on screen commentary or whatever.

With the fielders not moving, it's not like keepers on FM, it's more like if a ball was going out for a throw in, none of the players on either team moving.

It would be far better if the text commentary was clearer, not being on top of each other but one after the other so you have to read it, and then something like, Pietersen is chasing it to the 3rd man boundary, looks like it'll go for 4, it has!
my thoughts exactly. if the above problems can be resolved I think this will be a great game.

its annoyin that the declare button is like it is... u can easily press it by accident and declare at the wrong time..all it needs is a "are u sure you want to declare" message...

Also..when chasing in an odi game.. batsmen often at 1 or 2 down and max aggression will just plod along behind the rate...get going or get out should be what happens at max aggression!

Downloaded 1.02, but was only on it for about 2 minutes. No Scotland, despite having competed in NL for 3 full seasons, + no Uttam Sarkar + GARY KEEDY being a better bat than Dave Mohammed (!!!!!!!!) = a not impressed steds.
Might try playing a game if I ever get over these injustices.

not impressed tbh, just looking at Lancs the data wasn't very accurate.

Could have done with implementing a system a la CM where fans of team give data about their teams

I really do agree with SKD. An editor and fan imput is the way to go from here.

I cannot speak about an editor...but I know for CERTAIN that fan input exists! Check out the Data Issues forum on the Cricket Coach forums - all of it is fan input on the data!

Hope this helps..

As a Lancashire supporter I would be interested to hear which data you didn't feel was accurate.

well i posted some of it on the Cricket Coach forums, basically Stuart Law who never bowls was rated as good as or better bowler that quite a few that are much better than him. Lancashire were in the second division in the CC, people like Marshall, Hogg's batting was underrated and there were several randoms in the squad when there are plenty of worthwile players that could go in there. can't double check because trial ran out.

The randoms were randomly-generated players that are generated for every squad. But if those are the only gripes you have with the data, I'd say that was quite accurate myself. Lancashire being in the Second Division of the CC was a typo - not poor research.

depends on what you want the game to be. If FM had been released with Sol Campbell being as good a striker as Reyes...

Scotland's last season of the NL was 2005.
