Fate of 2011 World Cup

If it was staged in Australia, I wonder how we'd perform? History shows that we struggle at home in World Cups, think it would likely happen again.
Yeah, that history comprising of a whole 1 World Cup is pretty damn convincing stuff as to how you boys'll go next time!

And as for the timezone thingy, well it works pretty nicely: a day game in NZ starts at one time; a day\night game in NZ starts a little later than a day game in Aus; a day\night game in Aus starts about the same time as a day game in most of the subcontinent (for some westernmost parts it'd be a little later); a day\night game in most of the subcontinent starts about the same time as a day game in South Africa or Zimbabwe; a day\night game in South Africa starts a bit later than a day game in the UK; a day\night game in the UK starts about the same time as a day game in the Caribbean; and a day\night game in the Caribbean starts a little bit earlier than a day game in New Zealand.

Lovely little cycle!

Im presuming NUFAN meant World Cup's in general such as League, Union, etc... Could be wrong though.

Exactly.

However even if talking about just Cricket, it is odd that in the last 6 World Cups we've won it 4 times, been runner up once and bombed out before the semis in the only time played at home.

ICC president has named Australia as the alternate host of the 2011 world cup. This shows that they have proactive approach. Its not possible to conduct world cup in subcontinent. That's sure.

I still say dump Pakistan and hold it in India/SL/Bang if the players have no problems touring the last three.

The reason for cancelling the Tri-series was the paucity of crowds for non-Australia matches. Wonder how in this situation they can conduct a multi nation tournament.
Part of the problem was "non-Australian matches involving the same two non-Australian teams playing each other half-a-dozen times to decide who plays Australia in the final". The Tri-Series had if memory serves five matches between each of the teams, and usually after the first two or three matches, it was clear Australia would be one of the finalists.

In a WC, there will be a lot more riding on each match, and you'll only see the same teams play each other two or three times through the tournament. So I'd expect there to be more interest. And as mentioned, games involving minnows etc get sent to regional centres that currently get some FC, but no international cricket. It's worked well in previous WCs, cricket and otherwise.

Hope we'd be able to sneak a few matches as well.

India can hold all the matches alone if the need be.

If the windies and south africa largely can hold the world cup alone ,i do not know why the world cup in the subcontitnent should be divided among the FOUR nations.

They were trying to have some of the 2007 games hosted in the US, but those plans fell through. And had Zimbabwe been in a better state, it would have been almost a co-host in 2003 IMO.

I believe that whenever it's possible matches should be spread around multiple countries.

The Asian nations asking to be considered a bloc was the justification for every 3rd world cup being played largely in India. If you want to go by individual countries and turns, then the WC can next come to India in 2015 after Australia/NZ host it.

You mean 2019, after Australia and New Zealand have hosted it in 2011 and 2015 respectively?
