fastest bowler ever?

Tyson off a short run, Harmison off about 4 or 5 paces( when he first toured Australia) Coyte and Eddie Gilbert off about 4 steps. Sure puts a dent in the theory that you can't bowl quick if you don't have a long run up.

Fastest was Mohammed Zahid. Even Akthar admits him to be a yard quicker. Hitting 145-150k with a broken back, shows what man have been before the injury.
Thing I remember about Zahid was him bowling short at Ponting and getting pasted by some pretty impressive hooking and pulling.

You mean like post injury Thompson bowling short to Viv and getting destroyed?
Can we please stop this juvenile form of debate? It's the same people who do it every time as well

"hurr dur well this unrelated guy from your country did this so there" is never a relevant argument or interesting line of discussion

Is there any footage of this? I have a very hard time believing that Harmison bowled off literally 4 or 5 steps in an international match. Unless it was late in an innings in a bizarre change-up

One of the later tests of that series. Harmison got a lot of bounce but people made fun of his lack of direction. Having lost confidence he cut his run to concentrate on his delivery. He still got it over 140k and bowled better than he had iirc.

Literally 5 steps though? That's virtually just a wind up and bowl.

"hurr dur well this unrelated guy from your country did this so there" is textbook Cevnoing
Indeed it is. Product of well-placed insecurity. Sad.

It wasn't much more than that as I recall. I think it was the Sydney test. I just youtubed it about an hour ago. Harmison did play in that match but the clip I saw had him off his full run. Whereas I was hoping to find film off his short run. Never mind. For some reason I recall Martin Love as a batsman he was bowling to while employing the short run up.

Lillee got the shits with the Melbourne deck in the early 80s and bowled off two steps in one test

Adorable Asshole

International Regular
Don't get the controversy here. Akhtar is fastest recorded and by eye test looks the fastest.

On who was the most consistently fastest? That's up for the debate.

It's strange that it's almost 20 years and nobody has broken that record.
