4 right backs is ludicrous.

Also picking Henderson and Slabhead after their injuries is stupid. It didn't work taking better unfit players to tournaments in the past so why take ones again.

Henderson I agree with, wouldn't have made my squad, but with 26 I think he's almost obliged to take MaGuire as our dearth of players in that position is awful.

Poor Ollie, dropped for a plethora of right-backs.

I don't criticise the selection of Maguire or Henderson but did think JWP would be in the squad as extra CM cover given I think I heard Phillips had an injury too

I think Southgate has an unenviable role at England. Big club games where teams can play more high risk football being better gelled are generally quite tight and not often the best watches. Add in Southgate (and any English manager) is a big cut below a Pep, Tuchel, Klopp etc doesn't get anywhere near the same amount of time to coach his players over a season but is expected to produce the same style and quality of football.

I'd be surprised if the side that wins the competition wins it playing to their full capabilities in an offensive sense.

4 right backs makes sense if you're going to pick one (probably Walker I guess) as the 3rd CB when the team doesn't have the ball.

3 would still be perfectly fine in that scenario though. Especially as James could also play in a back 3.

If I put a bet on it'll probably be on Portugal. They weren't great in qualifying but their squad suddenly looks pretty special. Bruno, Jota, Felix, Dias, Ronaldo, Bernardo, Neves, Moutinho, Cancelo. Even Andre Silva has had a great season.

He had to pick some players who missed out because there are so many players haven't joined the squad yet because they were playing one of the European finals.

There's still an incentive for them, Watkins might get a game too, as sub, always a chance of injuries.

Was watching a video yesterday by Tifo about the Group of Death and I thought they were probably up there as one of favourites before but even more convinced after watching. Jota and Moutinho as options off the bench potentially - great fullbacks and the types of midfielders who can complement the attacking fullbacks by being defensively solid.

I'd still probably go for France - especially as I have England v Portugal in the last 16 in my predictions
