I guess I missed the announcement that Germany has decided to retire from International football after the World Cup

No doubt UEFA will blame the fact the English ref couldn't control the game, and probably fine us more than either team taking part....

Yeah it was a ****ing brilliant game to watch.

Shame we didn't get to see McGeady's return to Glasgow, would have been quite interesting.

Couldn't get coverage of the England game (ITV player is a useless turd) but doesn't sound like I missed much.

God didn't realise in the finals that 16 teams go through (out of 24) from the group stage. Would take something spectacularly dire not to make the last 16.

Would be fun to see hopefully one of the other home nations make it through to the knockouts.

Aaron Ramsey being Arsenal and Wales' worst player this season was definitely not something I had mentally prepared myself for.

Apparently it was Scotland and the Republic of Ireland that orignally suggested it. Only 3 voted against (England, Germany and one other).

Further proof it's about money is qualifiers being spread over 6 days each round of matches (playing Thursday/Sunday, Friday/Monday or Saturday/Tuesday)

Equally silly is that France are in a qualifying group but are already there as hosts.

Gets worse for 2020 doesn't it with about 10 hosts?
Geez that is interesting. Will they field second string sides to save their better players and give has beens or not quite there yet guys caps?

Great result for yer Leekists in Israel.

Still think Belgium and Bosnia are the main threats in the group, but 3-0 away to a team with a 100% record until now isn't to be sneezed at.

Yeah I think they'll qualify. The big concern is that the drop off in quality after Bale and Ramsey is comically huge, and both have had injury issues in the past. But they're in a very strong position. Would definitely warrant a "was it a choke?" thread if they balls it up from here.

I've read some really silly stuff about this being Wales' best ever team on the basis that they should qualify this time. Rather ignores the 50% increase in the number of sides qualifying.

Ha yeah. Increases your chances for top 2 but increases your chances for finishing outside of top 3 as well.
