Just looking at the 2000s records, Shoaib performed amazingly well, averaging 22 for the decade. I always thought he started his career red hot then drifted off a bit at the end but it looks like he was far more wayward and expensive in the 90s

Those 2 will walk into 2000s easily. Waqar misses out completely in this exercise
Pollock might not make the 00s as he had declined slightly, and McGrath and Steyn will walk in. So depends if we go with 2 spinners with Warne + Murali.

Waqar will certainly miss though - wow.

Yea he took some time to find the right everything but boy when he did...I'd actually pick Shoaib over Pollock for the 00s for sure if we are going with 3+ pacers again.

Pollock will only make 2000s if Warne doesn't. McGrath, Murali, and Steyn are locks.
Is Steyn that much of a lock for the 2000’s? Only really had 3 great years, the rest he was a very raw rookie. I’d have little hesitation in picking Pollock over him for a 2000’s side.

I came very late to this party, but just wanted to mention that the best-averaging opener of the 1990s was John Wright!! 1660 runs at 55...

I pick Waugh M as the last player, batting at 5 ahead of his brother.

Gooch
Anwar
Lara
Sachin
Steve Waugh 5
Aravinda 6
Healy +
Wasim 2
Warne 4

Choose the captain for this outfit, then:

pick the number 3
and the opening bowlers
