Establishing the best decade for cricket: Finding the ATG XI from 12 decades of test cricket - then having a KO tourney to decide the best

Let's agree to disagree. India has been using 5 bowlers strategy successfully in last 5 years. While India is not ATG side , results have been very good ( you won't become ATG side with non-existent middle order of Kohli, Pujara and Rahane ) .
I prefer 5 ATG bowlers anyday seeing our result in last few years.
5 bowlers is fine as long as two of those bowlers have the batting caliber of Ash and Jaddu. India lost a few matches as well going with 4 bunnies.

The number six is the most interesting pick here - there are a few options, and all have the pros and cons. We could pick six batsmen and rely on Waugh to be the fifth bowler - he had a good average in the '90s but the question I suppose is whether he bowled quite enough, as he took just 47 wickets in 89 Tests and bowled less and less as the decade went on.
Given the likely #6 could bowl as well, I'd just go and pick six bats. It's not like a bowling attack of Ambrose, Wasim, Warne + Donald/Waqar/McGrath/etc is likely to struggle!

Andy Flower
Donald

I don't think Flower was bad at keeping as widely projected in cw. On the contrary,I believe he was good in it.

With all the ATG batsmen of the decade already picked, I am a bit worried about the batting depth starting from no.6. That makes me go for Flower.
He wasn't as much of a poor wicket keeper as some make him out to be, though certainly not in Healy's class. He has kept a fair bit to Paul Strang hasn't he, though nothing like keeping to Warne. It is a tricky trade off choosing for better batting depth or better keeping class. I just about went for the former.
Picking Donald was a no brainer really. Would prefer him opening the bowling with Ambrose, with Akram to follow. Not much of a difference either way though.

Whatever it takes!!!
Flower fans please unite and hijack this poll. All those who don't like Ian Healy's commentary should also vote for Flower ?
What about those who do not like Flower's coaching? I mean he was an absolute arrogant prick and dick to KP, of all people, even couple of days ago in an IPL fieldside interview.

But England achieved no.1 test ranking, Ashes win in Australia, Series win in India, all under his coaching .

And didn't Healy miss catch in both 1 wkt loss of Aus to Pak and WI respectively ?
