English Domestic Season 2025

Sadly no national counties column in the cricketer

there is one on local club scene
Thanks, bet they don't cover the Cumbria Cricket League!

How can Benkenstein get away with this:
"From my experience of winning championships - [not as a coach] - it's not how many games you win [just as well] it's the win-loss ratio [again shocking] and it's not only about the points [really], but your morale when you don't lose a game."

As Glos coach 1 wins 14 defeats. As Lancs coach 3 wins 6 defeats.

Lancs' morale must be sky high after effectively following on against Northans and Leicestershire.

Judging by the amount of turn that Leach was sometimes finding on Day 2, Surrey won't fancy chasing many against Somerset.

It does show great consistency though, all we want in our coaches.

Only team so far to fail to defeat Worcestershire and have been outplayed by everyone else since, are Somerset relegation candidates?

Grandstand finish at Bristol, Leicestershire were beginning to look comfortable with 43 runs needed with 5 wickets remaining, but Singh Dale bowls Handscomb and the game is right back into the balance...

May as well pick Farhan Ahmed for the Summer tests.
Not that it means much these days but outside of Leach whose days are numbered (especially at home), he's been the best England-eligible spinner in the CC this season, unlike a lot of England spin hopefuls, his county actually seem to trust him with the ball even on unfriendly wickets

Comfortable win for the Champions. Off and running. The cider guzzlers incredibly poor - obviously not "their year" once again.

Not looking like a major issue right now...
Actually went to the game with a mate today. Somerset were embarrassing in the afternoon session. Banton looked horrendous when he got out. Very firm footed. Then Rew getting bounced out was rubbish too. Then you had the leave that kicked off the collapse.

Lancashire's Harry Singh stars for Cumbria in a losing cause today at South North CC in the National Counties 50 over trophy.

114 with the bat and 2/5 from his single over (the 50th), plus a run out in that last over together with 2 catches earlier in the innings.

Not a bad day's work.

It’s just spin isn’t it? There are thousands of examples out there of similar from a head coach - trying to stay positive amidst a bad run. Whilst also trying to convey a (dare I say) united front in public. I’m not saying I agree or disagree, but it’s not surprising.

On the point about him having won Championships, he’s not wrong is he?! He captained Durham to two titles, back to back, so I think you’re being a tad harsh getting stuck into him over that. It’s clear he knows how it’s done, even if he isn’t ’getting it done’ as a coach at Lancashire.

I was surprised he survived last season in fairness.

You are not alone. Especially when you add in bottom of the Metro Bank Group Table and thrashed in the quarter finals of the Blast.

Everything will be smiley happy faces on the Lancashire Cricket social media. The women are 2 from 2.
